Securing our borders is at least something in the right direction -- even if it really would not create an true security because of the practical issues involved. At least, it is a valid attempt.
Fighting in Iraq gets us ZERO security or benefit at home. Every report shows that our efforts over there incur nothing but cost to the American people, and provide no benefit -- certainly it's not making us any safer.

Securing our own borders... Why? Now that we're in Iraq I'm sure they've vowed a war of 7 generations or something. I'd rather think that we'll leave there someday, and when that happens we'll need to be ready to repel at our borders.
It's either toughen our borders all the way around, or completely and totally annihilate any enemy before they get too close. Since the latter would involve genocide, I'd go with the former.

Securing our own borders would seem safer. In Iraq we are seen as infidels on their sacred land. We leave and the infidels are off their sacred land so their recruiting tool is gone. We are told that if we leave they will follow us so if our borders are secure they can follow only to the border and then be repelled. Without the National Guard to help in securing that border because they are not here to do that one can not feel as safe.

We don't have the choice, the NAU (North American Union) is coming closer to fruition every day. This will make borders meaningless. If it was a possibility I would wish for our borders to be secured.

Secure borders. I'd much rather not have our country torn apart by a war. Keeping my child safe is important to me, and if keeping people out helps with that, then I am all for it.

I would secure our own borders, because the real danger to the US is infiltration and attack from within.
Then, I would expel everyone who is in on a visa from some terrorist country.
Then, I would not grant visas to any "clerics" from the middle east.
Then, I would speak the truth about the real goals of the islamicists.
Ask any American Muslim...they are scared of these people, too.
