I think that the concept of politically correct speaking is intended for good reasons, but as in the past good intentions have spawned not so good results. Doing something because it is a forced issue isn't authentic, and that seriously deminishes the true of a thing. I'd rather someone speak what and as they truely are because if they don't present themselves as I determine they should then I don't associate. Sometimes political correct speaking comes across as an unspoken lie. We as a society need to work on becoming more real with one another. Sincerity and true far outway whatever else. People have become dependent upon the social make-up which allows us to remain as we truely don't happen to be. Just my opinion though...take care...

Sometimes I think that it goes too far. For example, in Toronto, where I live, at City Hall one year, they didn't have a Christmas tree outside. They called it a "holiday tree". I am not a religious person, nor am I an atheist, but in that case, I think that the powers that be went too far. Schools couldn't even hold Christmas pageants. There is nothing wrong with saying "Happy holidays" to people at Chrstmas, because that would involve both the Christian and Jewish religions, as well as New Year's, but to not acknowledge one of the biggest holidays because some countries don't observe it, is dumb. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we were in some of those countries and demanded that they follow our way of life, we'd be turfed out.
Some people are offended easier than others, too. One guy at work told a gay joke to a bunch of us, 2 of which were gay--myself and one other. The other guy thought that it was tasteless, but I found it funny.

Politically correct speak is very subjective, and it simply means that people use a bunch of words to say a whole lot of nothing, or practice double speak.
It takes more words to justify a wrong than it does a right.
Personally I think it is used to try to muzzle free thinking people in our society.

Politically Correct mean that you do not have thoughts of your own. If you only say what is acceptable, then you are not being true to yourself.
Everyone has views which offend someone. People need to have thicker skins about someones opinion.

I would prefer a society that respects ethic diversity. Sincere respect trumps "political correctness." Strive to treat others as you would like to be treated.

I like the expectation of people being polite and respectful.
i dislike the censorship aspects - or the parts so restricting that intrudes upon casual conversation between friends.
