It can look like gobbledygook until you get used to it. This pattern has instructions for all different items. Which ones would you like to make?

For example, the first thing you see is the fabric suggestions. The fabric suggested is gingham, broadcloth, chintz, or calico. The staff in the fabric store can show you each kind of fabric.

For the quilt, you need one-and-three-eighths yards for the front (or a big panel with a picture on it, but it has to be the same size), and then 3 yards for the back and ruffle. You also need one and three-eighths yards of high-loft batting, and the clerks can show you that, too.

For the bumpers, choose 2 different colors and get 2 yards of each. Get three-and-a-quarter yards of the high loft batting. For the ties, you need 16-and-a-quarter yards of ribbon that is three-eighths of an inch thick.

Do you see how it goes? In the U.S. we ignore the parenthesis because that's metric and we don't measure our fabric that way. (snobby huh!)

Wherever it says "fabric", go back to the top line and review the suggested fabric choices. Don't deviate from the suggestions until you have some experience with different types of fabric.

If you take it to the fabric store, there will be someone there who will help you find everything you need. Just ask for help. Sometimes those envelopes are confusing.

It looks like a super cute pattern.
