I believe that this will be a huge issue going forward. A lot of products are being purchased and shipped to the U.S.A based on faith in the seller. In the last year, it looks like that faith is misplaced. From tainted pet foods, to lead paint in toys, it appears that Chinese manufacturers have no problem giving us bad product.

Mattel should be responsible for testing their products, but they are just one of thousands of companies bringing in Chinese goods. I am sure that many of them are now looking at inspection due to the sudden exposure in liability.

Matel has been around for tons of years. I don't know how long they've been making there products in China and taking away jobs from the US. But yeah, I think considering they are a toy company primarily and dah, they should be held responsible.
And no I don't understand why the hell its so hard to have people overlooking any of this. Same thing when it comes to our food too!!!

I don't think they do inspect it. The merchandise comes in to CA and is loaded directly to trucks and trains for delivery. Mattel wouldn't just say nothing about this defective merchandise with the hope they could get away with it. That would be suicide, because of all the organizations that constantly test these things. Mattel offers contracts for manufacture, and after that, get what they contracted for. That's how the system is supposed to work. However, China doesn't play by the same rules. I think China's imports should be scrutinized a bit more from now on. If allowed to continue at all.

That is the way it is supposed to be: everyone be responsible for their own actions! Spread the word! Tell a Liberal!
And, everyone, stop shopping at Wal-Mart or anywhere else that sells primarily Chinese goods. We do not need to fund their war efforts, or their space explorations.

Americans want cheap products. They want lettuce for a dollar a head so we tolerate illegal immigration. They want cheap cars, so we outsource to Mexico and destroy the cities of the Midwest. They want cheap toys so I guess we'll just have to tolerate a thousand dead babies. Grow up and learn to live with it.
