I bought a used Fender Squier and the tone/volume knobs need to be cleaned. I'm just not entirely sure how to get them off to clean them. Do I have to take the pickguard off, or do they just pop off?

Thanks for any help. :D

For the strat type guitar, they pop off.

Here is a site that has pictures and some instructions for modifying a strat, but you can use it to figure out how to clean your pots, as well:

For the telecaster type -- I think they pop off. Now, I have to go home and look to see for sure, or if there is a set-screw. Or, I might be thinking of my bass, too.

i do no longer think of a fender made outdoors of usa makes it a squier. yet i could be incorrect.. so a techniques as though a squier is worth to purchase i might could say it relies upon on the particular guitar. i've got heard some fender squiers with extra useful tone and playability than some low end fenders. in case you may play it in guy or woman and see the way it sounds with the aid of an amp i might propose doing that.
