I've had 5 c-sections in the last 8 years, and have been bleeding very heavily and passing clots for the last year. The Dr. wants to remove my uterus along with lots of scar tissue and also the cervex while he's in there since it is not really needed and will remove the chance of cervical cancer, leaving the ovaries. It has to be done abdomonally, just like my c-sections were due to complications with scar tissue. Vaginal and laproscopic proceedures are not an option for me. I am totally comfortable with this Doc and what he wants to do, But am looking for opinions from women who have had the proceedure done and their thoughts and feelings, both physical and emotional.

So lets hear it ladies...give me all the dirt so I can know what to expect.

I am wanting to leave the ovaries so I do not go into menopause and all that is involved like hormone replacement and early bone loss at age 27. They are in good health as of right now with no signs of cancer at this point.

I had this very procedure done in Feb of 2002. I have part of one ovary left so I will go through a natural menopause. My recovery was not bad at all. I was up and walking the very next day. I have symptoms of my cycle from time to time without the bleeding. It did not diminish my sex drive at all, in fact it got better, since I feel a heck of a lot better ! I also had prior C-sections so there was no additional scarring. The adhesion's were also removed etc. which was the cause of some of my pain too.

I had a total hysterectomy in 2001 when I was 21. I didn't feel any different after wards. I have had hot flashes, but that is it. I was up and walking around the next day. Yeah I still have supermoms of my mental cycle but that's nothing

I had a hysterectomy and was back at work two weeks later. It really wasn't bad at all. Good luck. 2D
