Do people REALLY believe that if Racial Injustice had NEVER happened to Black People(Ancestry to Present)...society would've turned out like it has today?? Example: High Crime Rates, Killing etc. *You only mirror what you are taught*

I'm talking about ALL of the slavery, segregation, killing, hate crimes, judicial injustice, human zoos, genocide etc....

And a popular answer around here is "Well, it didn't happen to you, quit bringing up the past...blah blah blah" Well actually, it has happened to me and to those before me, and to not bring up the past is ridiculous because it influences the future.

I mean seriously, it is so easy for a person to dismiss these facts when their "race" has never experienced the extremities that Black People have (and YES they HAVE) ...but consider the above and reply with "EDUCATED" answers.

Idiotic commentary is = to garbage. So post that crap if you want to, just know that your "opinion" doesn't mean squat.

I agree with all you said. But even if we weren't slaves in America, in Africa white settlers also owned slaves, many Africans have European last names like we do, (NOT AS MUCH AS WE DO) but some do. Also MOST of the land is owned by EUROPEANS in Africa(I mean the rich land that contain rich minerals like gold, diamonds etc) so I really don't know what would have been if slavery had never happened in America, but you are right, "If you don't know your past how can you change your future."

It's really hard to say. In every community, even if everyone is the same color, same religion, etc., there is always a permanant underclass. It wouldn't, necessarily, have been blacks but it would have been someone and that community would be dealing with the same issues that we are dealing with today.

The really important thing going forward is to educate ourselves. I don't mean the "get an education" argument, I mean really educate ourselves about who we are and where we come from. In my opinion, you can't know where you're going until you know where you've been. It's difficult to have pride in who you are when you're assailed with negative images every single day and don't know the accomplishments of your people. Every single day on school yards around the country at least one child get into the "we did this what did you do" debate and every day a black child is unable to answer that question. Not because blacks come from primitive people with no culture but because no one has taught them and they haven't bothered to seek the information out. I would say that about 90% of the people that I know (and they would all be considered educated) have no idea that there are 4x as many pyramids in Sudan as there are in Egypt. They have never heard of Khush. They have no idea that the Khushite Empire continued to rule and be a super power in the Med/N. African region for hundreds of years after the fall of Rome. They have no idea that they defeated the Egyptians and ruled there for 100 years. I could go on with my history lesson but don't want to be too long winded. It suffices to say that knowledge is power and we need to gain as much knowledge about our ancestors and where we come from as possible.

Mof2 - You seem like a reasonable person but you have completely missed the point of the question and are completely in denial about the effect that hundreds of years of oppression, hundreds of years of being told that you're not even human, hundreds of years of degradation can have on the psyche of a people. The slavery that existed in the United States is not like the slavery that existed in other parts of the world. Please do some research on this and don't just take my word for it. Jim Crow was in our parents/grandparents lifetimes. Our parents, aunts and uncles were integrated not our great, great, great grandparents. Spit on and attacked by ADULTS who are, largely, still alive today (my father integrated his SC middle school). This stuff isn't ancient history and makes up the fabric of our families, our recent histories. Again, I urge you to do some research into the history of the United States, Europe and a little psych wouldn't hurt either.

Most of our current problems don't go back that far, but rather more recent history. The Reconstruction/Jim Crow period, where whites ran around lawless, lynching and making everybody's lives miserable, shaped America as we know it. Outlawing them from receiving an education, which was considered absurd everywhere else, on top of segregation, makes the history unique.

The far-reaching disparities in housing and education are the rresult of the total exclusion of Blacks in all the legislation that built the middle-class, including the New Deal, GI & VA BIlls. De facto Affirmitive Action for whites further widened the gap but it doesn't really matter, Black-Americans never needed a friggin' handout to get to that affluent stage. Now over 80% of Black Americans are middle class and collectively have a near-trillion GDP by themselves, no thanks to a financial incentive from the government and the humility of whites. Innercity problems are innercity problems, not Black problems.

I agree with you, to a point. I can proudly say, that it has only been in the last 20 to 30 years that you see blacks imitating the crimes of their wh**e predecessors. We didn't come to this country as homo*****ls, rapist, murderers and thieves,we saw Massa do it. After being on this continent for several hundred years, Guess What?

Just remember it was 50 years ago the body of 36 black men were pulled out of the Mississippi River. They were put there by one of America's notorios terrorist Groups. The KKK! Which was ignored, and encouraged by the Wh**te American government. If it had not been for television, Blacks would probably be separate and unequal.

We are nine generations out of slavery. and even when blacks were free they still were not given equal opportunity. Rosa Parks had to sit her black behind down. Black soldiers, when they were finally allowed in the US army had to go to Europe and see they were not being treated right in the
U S A, because white Europeans treated them with respect. This would be the foundation of the Civil Rights movement.

We still live in a country were the Conviction rate for blacks is 5 times to that of wh**es, and wh**es comit the most crime in this country.

Instead of going after a billion dollar child porn industry that is allowed to exist in America, they want to attack rap music. Thats only because the wh**e power structure participates in, the child porn industry. Some even go to foreign countries to have sex with children. Show me a rap song were they talk Pedophillia, molesting children, and i will show a National organization call N.A.M.B.L.A ! They don't even get half the attention in the Media, as rap music!

I say to all individuals, trust in GOD and the impossible becomes possible. You just have to believe!

Don't take the MARK!

Peace!

Why are you bring this up. Are you currently a slave? And you said that it has happened to you, When & what happened. If you were never a slave & never endured what those people went through then why are you making yourself seem so victimized. I understand that what they went through was awful, but don't put yourself in their category. You have not gone through what they went through. Just because you are black doesn't mean you fully understand what happened to them. And in your first paragraph you said that if racial inustice had never happened to black people then we wouldn't have high crime rates, killing, etc. So are you saying that blacks are now taking revenge for what happened hundreds of years ago. Are you serious! And why is it ok for them to create high crime, killlings, etc. when the people they are committing those crimes against had nothing to do with what happened in the past. I can understand that they are upset because of what their ancestors went through, but that doesn't mean they should continue the hate and commit such crimes. And if you're saying ALL the slavery, killing etc. (in your second paragraph), then that would include Indians, Jews and many other races that went through hell in the past. But I currently don't see Jews or Indians complaining about slavery and racial injustice. You grow from these things, living in the past and seeking revenge for something that you personally did not endure is ignorant. We need to grow as a people (meaning every race) otherwise we are going to continue the hatred that was started hundreds of years ago. So don't sit there and act like only blacks have suffered, just because that is the most highly publicized race for that sort of the thing, doesn't mean it has not affected other races as well.

And for "Dreamy"'s response, no one is hiding behind anything, we are making our comments the same way you are. And you said that people won't let you forget the past, what people are you talking about ?. I mean are you constantly getting harrassed or something. It's like you're looking for someone to say something to you, so that you can say "You're a racist" to them. I bet you live for that! Well grow up! Stop feeling sorry for yourself. And just because I'm responding through the computer, doesn't mean I won't respond in person.

African-American music has had a huge impact on American society and the world- jazz, blues, soul, swing, funk, r&b, and even rock&roll (the early stages) have been some of America's finest contributions to the world. I left out hip hop because I hate it. :)

I believe a lot of people are in denial. I also believe that a lot of these people know better than to make ridiculous accusations/assumptions in person. It's so much easier to hide behind an avatar. No, we can't forget the past, and not because we don't want to, it's because there are people who won't let you. I'm not only talking about black people on that note either!

No offense, but the jews were persecuted to a MUCH larger extent than African Americans but I don't see them out doing what you state below to such an extent.

"Example: High Crime Rates, Killing etc. *You only mirror what you are taught*"

I'm not saying that it doesn't have anything to do with it at all, but to blame all the African American issues because of slavery is asinine.

Using your logic I guess you just give up and make excuses.
