why the hell do they always put up pictures of people in the middle of a sentence? look at the guy on Yahoo!'s homepage, couldn't they have put a picture of him smiling? you know they have one, so what gives?

The shots you are speaking of are eye catching. You are still thinking about the last picture you saw like that which means they accomplished what they set out to do! They grab you with an unusual picture then the next thing you know, you are reading an article you may have ignored. This is what it is all about: getting attention to generate a larger audience.

In the case of Bush to make him look not very intelligent. This works for others as well.A recording of words would make sense though. Recorder might decide that people should see this to be recorded for posterity.
