I agree with you, and there's medical proof, that marijauna is "better" for people than alcohol. But, it has nothing to do with our government now. It has everything to do with alcohol's social acceptance for the past 2000+ years. I actually learned too, that marijuana was legal in the early - mid 1800s and the prohibition of marijauna was lobbied for by southwestern politicians as a way to eradicate Mexicans. They wanted to outlaw marijauna cigarettes not because of their effects, but because it was what these people indigenous to that region smoked. It was an easy way to allow the law to get rid of the Mexicans in order to more easily take hold of their land.

. There have been NO deaths resulting from overdosing on weed, there is no addiction problem with it... Preference yes, but no physical addiction. Alcohol has a lot more of a ... Hindrance on your ability to reason or function than weed dose... So why is alcohol legal but weed not. Cigarettes are worse in every way than weed except weed has more of a psychedelic feel... And as the excuse that the government cant tax it ... Bullshit pal.. HAHHAAAA tax the dollar 10 percent that's two dollars of tax on a two gram bag. We would save a lot of taxpayers money ... Almost 1.2 bill a year, because there wont be any people in jail from weed arrest. I know in new york over 40 percent of people in state prison is for attempt to sell or possession of the ****... COMEON..... Worry about rapeist and murderers...... Get off the petty ****, legalize weed and do your job government!!!

You have it pegged. Alcohol is a bit more difficult to produce, takes special equipment, and is relatively bulky and hard to transport, therefore it is taxable.
Dope, OTOH, is easily grown and processed, requires no special equipment and does not need to be transported since the seeds contain the next generation of plants.
Also, the plants are reproductive so there is a possiblity that there would be only one sale per customer. Taxation would be difficult if not impossible.
If you want to know the reason for something on THIS world, follow the money.
BTW, the hype about pot being 'pre-addictive' or a 'beginner' drug is bs.

Marijuana causes no deaths???
The surveyor must be really high while writing the statistics.
Do you know the process before you can ban or declare anything "illegal".....nationwide...or in most countries?
It is illegal for a number of good reasons.
Lay off the weed my friend.

You're right. Also, alcohal causes so much violence and promotes angry feelings......wheras the worst thing people do when they're high is............nothing.
If I had a teenage son or daughter, I'd much rather they smoke pot than drink all the time.
Also, alcohal is ALOT more addictive than marijuana.
Sigh, if only it were legal......
