Mateo Ruiz is the twin brother of Manny Ruiz, a Miami based mobster who terrorized Port Charles for nearly a year. Mateo and Manny spent time in prison, during which Mateo became highly religious and turned away from a life of crime upon his release. He is currently a practicing priest in Port Charles, and many are questioning whether or not he truly has changed. During the Metro Court hostage crisis, Mateo killed one of James Craig's armed gunmen in self defense, and in return was shot in the chest by another one of Craig's subordinates. Mateo was last seen at the hospital apologizing to Sam McCall on March 2, 2007. It has been rumored that he will soon be seen again.

He was manny's twin brother, mateo, he was at the hostage crisis, and then ever since then he was just dropped. i've heard from a lot of sources that he'll come back but at this point doesn't look that way.
just like many other characters on this show, he is dropped and just faded out because the writers see no purpose for them.

edit
also he did not die

I believe that he could be behind all the new happenings on General Hospital. Leticia being killed. And the Big Mob War that is fixing to happen. Either its Manny(who didn't die like we thought) or his brother the priest. This would make for an interesting storyline.

I would really like to know... they never said he died. After the Metro Court hostage crisis I know he had been shot, but the last scene they showed of him was him being in the hospital healing. To my knowledge nothing was ever revealed about him dying or being moved to another church or anything. I miss him a lot though. I love the actor, and when he played Manny I loved it even though he was a little crazy.

He was Manny's twin brother and no, he didn't die in the Metro Court explosion. Supposedly at some point he will make a return to PC. I heard on a show out of Seattle that we have not seen the last of him.

Actually I'm pretty sure that Manny's brother survived, but they just dropped him as a character. With Sam no longer afraid of him, he had no story.

Edited to add - Wait, maybe he did die when the Metro Court exploded.

Last time we seen him he was a t the hospital after the hostage crisis getting checked out and then we haven't seen him since. I don't know why they don't addresss this since it was a big deal then. He was so good at playing scary.

I also think he survived the hostage crisis. I know he was shot in the shoulder. I think the writers just stopped writing him in since there really is nothing for him to do......

They just dropped the storyline without explanation. I forget if it was the second or third time they brought Robert LaSardo back.

He was Manny's twin brother. He was in the Metrocourt during the hostage crisis and one of the hostage takers killed him.
