I'm 21 and really can't imagine myself being a mother. Having practically my whole life and all of my time dedicated to children sounds horrifying!

I do realize that I could change my mind.....I just feel like all girls my age are so ready to have children. I feel like being a mother would ruin my life!

No you're not alone on that. A lot of women choose not to have kids for similar reasons. Kids aren't for everyone, and those that aren't ready for them or don't want them, shouldn't have them. =)

Awesome that you know this about yourself. It's probably best to have children in your 30s anyway, so keep your mind open. Children are from heaven. It sounds like you don't need any lectures about having enough money, health, and help to have a child these days.
Kudos to you.

I have friends that are perfectly happy without children. In reality you have about 25 years before you have to make a final decision. I don't think anyone should have kids unless they are over 30! However, if you really decide no kids do not obsess or let anyone make you feel guilty.

Some parents both feel that kids are a hassle and leave them behind ( drugged ? ) when going out for a meal in a foreign country.......

I am 45 and am childless by choice, I don't dislike kids, they're just not for me. I took a lot of stick over the years about it, people called me selfish, but what's more selfish..admitting that you don't want them or having them because of social pressures (or being too lazy to prevent them), and then dragging them up?! I don't regret it, we're all different. Have the courage to stick to your convictions, and if you do change your mind later, best of luck!

No you're not.. I'm a woman and I feel the same way.

Can't stand children..

If I ever do decide to have children I'll adopt though. Forcing more into the world is horrible.

No, it's not just you. I like children, but I only spend time with them sporadically, and that's enough for me. I'd much rather be my brother's kids' aunt than someone else's mother.

EDIT TO ALEXANDRA: Isn't it possible to get married without having kids?

I don't feel the same way you do, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Just because you have a uterus, doesn't mean you have to pop kids out of it.

I didn't have them because they were a hassle. I didn't have them because I knew I wouldn't make a good mother. It was the right decision for me.

But you are young. You may yet change your mind.
