Wow, I've seen some good questions posed lately, but instead of talking like intelligent adults, people just start throwing out racial slurs, insulting whatever race isn't their own, etc.? Why is it so difficult to just talk rationally? Seriously, I don't get it?

Maybe it's because intelligent people tend to be less loud and obnoxious? They're smarter so they know to not just yell out random thoughts. Or maybe there are just way more stupid people than intelligent people on here!
Either way, I wish there WERE more rational conversations about race. Maybe if we talked about issues in a calm way, we'd have less issues!!!

I guess the old saying is true. If you want a nice conversation,dont bring up race,religion or politics. There are categories in here that invite all of these topics,so I guess if you go there-you're asking for it. Personally,I never knew there was so much of a division between so many groups of people. I'm still trying to figure out why there are so many atheists in Religion and Spirituality. It is an interesting forum though.

I don't have ANY trouble at all discussing these issues.
I do however find (and it's extremely amusing) that when left wing liberals get into a conversation with someone who doesn't agree with their point of view, they're usually the first to get flustered, raise their voices, and generally loose their minds.
It's absolutely hilarious to watch them go insane carrying on about whatever agenda is aggravating them.
They are usually the first to start labeling other people. Who ever doesn't agree with them is a racist, or a bigot, or whatever. They're the biggest hypocrites.
I just smile, state my opinion in an eloquent fashion, shrug a lot, and laugh when they start foaming at the mouth.
I'm their worst nightmare. I'm a highly educated, emotionally detached independent thinking person, who deals with the world the way it really is, not how I, they, you, (whoever) thinks it should be.

I think a lot of it is ignorance. We don't know what other races are like, so we assume that ours is best and the others are less in some way. It's dumb, but it's how a lot of people are.

I think you are correct. Unfortunately YA seems to be fairly representative in this case. Until we can have reasonable discourse on this subject we will not make strides in overcoming the cancer of racism.
