For all of you who don't know why I say I am 9 and a half months pregnant and think thats weird. Yes when woman are pregnant its not really 9 months. it's 40 weeks which equals 10 months. At month 10 you hit your due date and could possibly go over. Your due date is just an approx date by your last menstrual period. Even though when you conceived it's 2 weeks after your due date(most of the time) they count it back to YOUR LAST PERIOD. So YES. I am 9 1/2 months pregnant = 38 weeks. Aye... can ya tell i'm irritated! No more stupid comments! If you can't answer questions having some knowledge about it, dont answer them!

FINALLY someone who understands!! I thank you for pointing this out to everyone. I too am 38 weeks (9 1/2 months) pregnant and some people really are stupid when it comes to converting the weeks into months but again, thank you so much for telling everyone how it REALLY is!!

Sorry, but you (and most people responding) are infact COMPLETELY wrong on the math here.
Not all months have 4 weeks (only, Feb has 28 days), so contrary to what you just said 40 weeks does NOT equal 10 months.
40 weeks = 40 x 7 = 280 days. There are 365 days in a year and 12 months in a year, so in terms of months 40 weeks = 280 / 365 x 12 = 9.2 months (so roughly 9 months, 1 week).
So, it is NOT such a dumb question if you know how to do the math. Best to stick to measurement by weeks...:)

90% of the qs here are stupid. The worst one being 'Could I be pregnant?' Yes, if you had sex you could be pregnant, no birth control is 100%. (except not having any sex) it doesn't matter if it was during your period or anything. You can still be pregnant. Home tests can be wrong. The pull out MO does not work. I know several ppl who are the result of a broken rubber. People have gotten pregnant on the PIll. Even a vasectomy isn't 100%. It's rare ,but it does happen.
Due dates are educated wild guesses.
ps It could be worse elephants are pg for ~16 months

Wow...sounds like you are the one that needs a bit more "knowledge".
Yes a woman is pregnant for 40 weeks...7 days are in a week and 4 weeks times 7 days equals only 28 days...as far I know, we only have one month with a maximum of 28 days...all other months are 30 or 31 days.
So you see, a woman is pregnant for 40 weeks or 9 months...not 10! At 38 weeks you are 8.5 months as you have not yet COMPLETED you 9th month. Your 9th month is from weeks 36 through the end of your 40th.

I am glad that I am not the only one who says that 40 weeks is 10 months. I swear that doctors say 9 months think that women don't want to hear they have an extra month.
When I asked a doctor about this once, they said that the first two weeks and last two weeks are there free month to guess the conception date. So I am always sympothic to friends and family members who are in your shoes. I hope the last two weeks go quickly for you.

I get what you're saying. I look at pregnancy the exact some way! You're due date IS the start of the 10th month. I feel your frustration! The best thing to do is just ignore answers that you don't like. Give them a thumbs down and move on your marry little way. lol

LOL Hun, i know how you feel! some people just don't realize that a woman is actually pregnant for 10 months, although it is 9 calendar months.

Simma!! Alot of people don't understand this pregnancy thing and have never been pregnant before...it can be frustrating but try to just overlook the answers that you feel are silly....

i totally agree...i hate saying how many months i am, because then people look at it differently...id rather say im 16 weeks, cause most everyone knows you are preg for 40 weeks, but people are that ignorant that they cant put it together....but dont stress...smile relax and beware of stupid people
