Behavior therapy is a treatment method based on determining the causes of behavior (usually emotional or psychological causes) and then helping the person to change those behaviors by resolving or controlling the emotional or psychological problems.

It is particularly effective in many juvenile cases, since the cause of criminal conduct is usually some emotional problem -- as opposed to a plain rational desire to ignore the law.
