Lori - Your right it's a team sport!..without a good TEAM you can't win!.....Just look at Jordan for Instance!..Without Pippen on his team he NEVER had a winning season!!!....Missed the playoffs twice!!!!....and only won 1 - playoff game in 5....5...Five years!!!

actually you have it backwards.....without Pippen Jordan was a baldheaded Dominique Wilkins.........Jordan played 5 seasons without Scottie Pippen..in those 5 seasons all of Jordans teams had losing records!...they missed the playoffs twice!..and only went 1 - 10 in the playoffs....that's right 1 win..and 9 LOSSES!!!!.........Jordan retired in 1994 and the Bulls still almost went to the ECFinals ..they won 55 games(only 2 fewer then the year before with MJ)...

Smoker (lol...U aint lying)..MJ is the biggest ballhog in the History of the NBA...he's led the NBA in FG attempts a record!!..9 times....he averages 23 shots a game(4 more then Kobe)..he once took 49 shots in 1 game...the most ever in the last 30 years!!!!!!!!....

jellHO - your saying Jordan is better becuz he won a bunch of biased awards!....his 6 Titles ..are not even close to a record!..5MVP's are not a record..DPOyear....yeah young Jordan was a great defender but after 1994 he was overrated on defense and still kept making the all defensive team?..
Did Jordan deserve to make the All Star team as often as he did? No... the fans didn't want him in 2003, and neither did the coaches... Vince Carter was pressured by the media (including ESPN) to give up his rightfully-earned starting spot so that Michael could play, even though no one wanted him there. Jordan didn't earn an all star spot in 2003, it was given to him.
Jordan was a manufactered hero becuz he could make money for corporate America!...just look at the 88 dunk contest!!!!!!!!...he won?...when everyone said he should have lost!...but NIKE gave it to him anyways...(sigh!)

Rick S - Kobe is taking 200 more Three's per year then Jordan and still shooting a better percentage!...wake up little homey!..you make no sense...and Kobes 24ppg average was becuz he was playing limited minutes his first 2 years!!..take away his first 2 years and his averages jump to 28ppg 5ast and 5rbs..and was giving the ball to SHAQ 25 times a game!!!!
Kobe first 3 years without Shaq VS MJ's first 3 years without Pippen......
Kobe : 31pts 5assist 6rebs 2 winning seasons/1 losing season 4 playoff wins!

Ahahahahahahaha! If Mike had those things you mentioned in the beginning of his career he would have had these 3 things:
1. He would be incomparable - Kobe, as much as I respect him, would be one bleak light compared to Mike's. Given all the achievements Mike has done.
2. He would have been unstoppable - as was Shaq if he had good freethrow shooting. Imagine the arsenal that Mike could unleash if he had those early in his career. Even though he developed all of that only in his chamionship teams imagine if he had that early. The rampage that he would have done.
3. More championships - If Jordan was blessed with those early in his career he would have won rings early. Maybe even beating Magic and Larry in their golden years!!
So for your question: If Michael Jordan had more of a perimeter game and a 3pt shot,do you think he could have been as good as Kobe? Actually no. Mike would be a lot more better than Kobe Bryant maybe 10 times better than your idol!! lol.
And since you keep taking Phil's let's take it from the builder of champion teams Red Auerbach on Michael Jordan: "He is the greatest player to ever play basketball".

First of all I'd like to preface this by saying that Kobe is by far the best player in the league today.
That being said, Kobe is not better than Jordan. Kobe is not one of the top 10 all time. Granted he still has some good years in him and he may one day be, NOT NOW!!!
Also Kobe's 3PT % is only 33.7 Jordans is 32.7%.
that means for every 100 3's put up Kobe makes one more than Jordan.
Your argument is ridiculous.

Jordan: 30ppg 6.2 rpg 5.3apg
WHO IS THE BETTER PLAYER???

Phil Jackson said that to hype up a superstar he was coaching at that time. Lets use our brains for a minute. what would have happened if Phil came out telling the truth comparing Kobe to Mike and said Kobe isn't and won't be as good a jordan?
