when u do things like 9+10+3=3+9+10 you would say that is the commutative property of addition, but what would 4(3+8)=4(3)+4(8) be. i know it would be distributive but would it be the distributive property of addition or multiplication. thanks for any help!

It's the distributive property _of_ multiplication _over_ addition. That's its full name, which as you can see, references both operations.

that's the distributive property of addition.

there is no distributive property of multiplication. distribution is only for addition.
