It is not that bad and that is why Mothers would do it over and over again!
What hurt me the most was the contractions. Mine were induced so it made them stronger than normal. Don't fret, before you know it is all over and it is soo worth it.
Good luck :)

The contractions are like having diarrhea for about 3 days but having to hold it that long. When I was dilated to 7 I went ahead with the epidural and didn't feel the baby coming out and didn't feel anything for a couple hours after I had her. So I got to really enjoy my first moments with my daughter without any pain. But if your going drug free I can only comment on the contractions part of it, but from what I've heard about the actual baby coming out is pretty painful; they don't call it the ring of fire for nothing.

It depends upon the person and even upon what childbirth technique they use. I used the Bradley method which helps to keep the uterus from cramping. During labor the cervix stretching is what hurt. It felt like a dull ache, like holding your mouth open as wide as you can for a while. Crowning hurts, but it lasts for 5 minutes or less. The pushing contractions did not hurt at all.

Yes, the contractions is the only thing that Hurst about labor, everything else just feels like a relief. When the baby is coming out it doesn't really hurts.

Let me tell you! I have two babies right now, and one coming in a couple of weeks(or sooner!). I never wanted to get tha epidural, i heard it messes up your back in tha future. So with my first baby i just had a pain reliever through tha IV. And it all went good. And with my second, I had no time to get ANY pain reliever!!! That sucked. It was really painful! I told myself I didnt want to have any more babies. But...look where im at now! Pregnant again, but very happy(until labor kicks in!). But to be completely honest, when my babies came out tha 'vagina' thing didnt even budge me. It was tha contractions that almost killed me! I guess tha pain is so bad that when tha baby comes through, i didnt even feel it. But i just hope this time i have enough time to get some pain reliever! LOL! Got any more questions, feel free to ask...

Well.....God makes it so that you really don't remember all of the pain. The contractions and back ache were the worst, but I had an epidural so I didn't really feel the delivery. Over all, it isn't that bad. Just focus on the task at hand and remember that you are bringing your little one into the world. That will make it much easier to focus. Good Luck!

Not the contractions. It will be the babies head coming out of the vagina. Once that is done it's over. You'll be fine.

It all hurts, sorry to break it to you. Contractions are very bad, mine where in my back and wrapped around my stomach. Get an epidoral, saved me!! As for birth I don't know since I had an emergency c section but I pushed for 3 hrs and it was painful but in the end it was all worth it...don't worry to much about the pains, they go away and in the end you get a wonderful gift!

i never did the pushing bit as i had an emergency cesarean but i remember it seeming at the time like the early contractions hurt but to be honest looking back i think it was because i was tired fed up and on my own as i was induced and they send your partner home after a certain time unless they think you going to be pushing soon and they will call him back when it gets nearer the time early on it just felt like really bad period cramps but they didn'tseem to be going away . the later ones didn't seem so bad my partner was with me and you can take them one at a time or maybe that was just the drugs they gave me. wow just realised i can't really remember to much about it all, i just found out i'm pregnant with my second today i've got all this to come again.
