Most misdemeanors result in a plea agreement between the state and the defendant. If there is a trial, it often lasts less than an hour or so. This matter was set for 2:00 pm, meaning the court most likely expected a plea agreement or a very short trial. If it were a long trial or a jury trial it would have been scheduled for 9:00 am.

I would not call the court today. The docket is often very full on court day. That means that nothing will get into to the computer for several hours and the clerks will not appreciate getting a phone call asking what happened just a few minutes after court is over.

set for trial...is exactly that...id he is goning to have a jury trial, then NO the sentencing will not be on the same day.
if he is pleading guilty and waving his right to a trial, it will be up to the judge -he can sentence that day or wait for the DAs recommendation at a later date.

can you call the court for info? no, they wont tell you...BUT you can contact the jail later that day after their computers are updated (probably around 8pm).

good luck :)

They probably will sentence him that day. Call the clerk of court, although it will probably take until the next day before they know what the sentence was.

Generally, for misdemeanors, sentencing is on the same day, since the trial is usually much shorter than one day.

Call the court and ask. All they can do is say no.
