I've seen a couple questions on here about "falling pregnant." Is that something they say in the UK or Europe? I think it's an interesting expression.

I'm from the UK. It is used but not all the time. Doesnt make sense really, but theres expressions from all over the world that dont make sense!

Found this on a blog which talks about the phrase "fall/fell pregnant":

Under “fall” as a verb, the OED classifies “fall in love” with some other phrases, such as “fall asleep” and “fall into laughter.” The definition for that sense of “fall” is “To pass suddenly, accidentally, or in the course of events, into a certain condition.” ‘Fall’ here did not originally have the present sense of dropping from a higher state to a lower, but of passing suddenly from one state to another. It’s from the Indo European root, phol which does mean literally “to fall” but also “to happen”.

I think I remember hearing that in Australia. In the UK they say preggers, in France they say Eciente.

In the Ghetto, apparently. Its usually expressed with such grammatical blunders as "how do i no if i fell pregnentcy?" or "how long dos it tak to fall preggers?".
