You can't really induce your own labor, but there are ways to help it progress a little farther. They say that some stuff actually helps, like sex, spicy food, walking, etc. I ate chili the night I went into labor with my daughter and I went into labor two weeks earlier than my due date. Try some of these things..they might help. Congrats!

Not a good idea. You aren't really supposed to go into labor until 40 weeks, 38 is OK too. But, it's gotta happen on it's own.
I totally remember feeling horribly huge and uncomfortable and not sleeping, can't breath, don't eat... but don't do it.
Walk alot. Have lots of sex. Eat spicy foods. Scrub your kitchen floor.
If you were meant to go into labor, these will help. If you weren't meant to yet, they won't do a darn thing. And that's good, because you want your baby to be all done before he gets kicked out.
And if you are worried about the weight ( I had a 9.4 lb baby and a 10.3 lb baby, so I understand) just double the amount of water you are drinking. Stop eating anything but Protein and vegetables. No sugar, no carbs, no fruit, juice, soda. etc.
Those things will only add weight to the baby. They don't provide him with anything that he needs right now. You will be fine.
Good luck!

Sex. Sex is the most well known induction technique because it works the best. Semen contains natural prostaglandins (cervical ripening agents) that can help your cervix ripen. In addition, sex or sexual activities are relaxing and that too can start labor. You may have to use some imagination, as most women are very uncomfortable in the last stages of pregnancy, but the effort might have you meeting your baby sooner rather than later.
Movement. Movement such as walking, skipping, lunging, swimming or swinging (on a park swing) can help labor to begin. It is believed these activities help the baby rotate into a good position for childbirth. Taking a bumpy car or train ride also has the same advantages.
Relax. The more you stop obsessing over when your baby is coming, the more likely labor will start. Labor will not begin in a stressed body.
Foods. Everyone has a favorite food that they claim will start labor. Spicy foods like pizza or sausage can help. But only because they irritate the bowels. Personally, I do not recommend this method because it can cause heartburn, cramping and diarrhea and who wants those things when labor begins?
Fruit. Tropical fruit like pineapple, mango and kiwi actually contain an enzyme that may help tone your cervix. This fruit will probably not start labor, though with a toned cervix, early labor may go a little faster.
Talk to Your Baby. Some cultures believe that babies that have not been welcomed will not come into the world. It sounds silly, but talking to your baby and making them feel welcome may bring on labor.
Acupressure and Chiropractics. Some acupressure and chiropractic techniques can start labor. Talk to your care provider, friends or check the internet to find a practitioner in your area.
Castor Oil. Castor oil is an old technique that is not recommended anymore. It does the same thing spicy foods do, it irritates the bowels. It can also cause nausea and is pretty disgusting to ingest. In addition, castor oil rarely works.
Herbal Supplements. Herbal supplements like evening primrose oil (EPO), black and blue cohosh, red raspberry leaf tea and nettle tea are not recommended unless you have the permission of an herbalist or your care provider. Dosages for these supplements have not been determined, and taking too much can cause serious complications, including death, for your baby.

ooh i know
when my mom was pregnant with me, i was 3 weeks overdue. i was a pain in her back... literally. she called the Dr. every dang day asking
"why is she not out yet!!" he kept telling her
"Give it time... and stop calling every day!!"
so she decided to take things in her own hands. she went to the store, got the BIGGEST watermelon in there, rolled it to the car, wobbles up the stairs, and sat in the middle of the floor with a butcher knife, a fork and the remote control. halfway through the watermelon and Saturday night live, she had to pee REALLY bad.
she wobbled to the bathroom and as soon as she sat down, she realized she didn't have to pee anymore. frustrated, she started to get up when her water broke.
long story short, I'm here!! 3/23/90
I DO NOT recommend you do this because it seemes like your not really that far along...
on the other hand, 9 lbs is a big baby!
its up to you!
good luck!!

Sex will help just be very careful, orgasms make the uterus contract, also sperm breaks down the cervix. And IF your body is ready (if not, nothing will work) then nipple stimulation will help as well. The first put my into labor with my second and third pregnancies and the nipple stimulation did with my first. Give it a try...if def won't hurt anything.

I'm not trying to say you should do this...but this is what I did to help induce my own labor..I drunk some castor oil and it did make me go into labor within 48 hours...Why dont you just tell you doctor how miserable you are being pregnant and ask him to schedule an induction....the doctor I used for my last pregnancy was most sympathetic and agreed to induce me after I complained.

move a lot. Go on walks, excersice, some suggest to bend down a lot by picking up things off the floor. sex, nipple stimulation. I even rode a bike a little.
If water brakes grab extra big pad(s) and head off to the hospital.

LOTS of walking, LOTS of sex. Well actually more succintly, your orgasms. They can help stir stuff up down there. :)
People also suggest spicy foods, but I don't understand how that one would help, personally. At least the other suggestions are moving all that around and getting the area ready. And plus, neither an orgasm or walking will hurt you or the baby.

You still have three weeks to go, why do you want to rush the baby?
I can only say that because of my belly, I was 'on top' one evening (w/hubby) and my water broke. But I was overdue at the time.
Try Dancing too.
