Why do a lot of minorities assume white people provoked an attack but?

if a white person attacks a black person, it is immediately seen as a hate crime. Do you not see how this is damaging race relations. How can we have this stupid double standard if we're supposed to be equals here.

Time and time I see this frame of thinking. Rationalize it please, because it makes no sense to me.

Princess-I commend you for your logically sound response. You have made valid points and I think a lot of people here need to read your statement. So many blacks do assume this and it's wrong. Yea, our ancestors went through some bad stuff. I personally haven't had to deal with that many issues relating to my skin color. Apparently, i'm a rarity. But, yea, you make good points.

I think black people are predispositioned to think that all white people have some sort of racial motive, just because of what we have been thru, not just with slavery, not just with the civil rights movement, but in our everyday lives. I dont condone anyone hurting anyone, and when my black brothers and sisters do things like that, it hurts my heart, because there are so many black people that are just trying to live good, and make it in our lives, and try to not be or perpetuate the stereotypes that society has just blanketed over all of us. You make a lot of valid points, BUT when things have happend for so long and you just see one injustice after another, its hard to think other wise! I wish that it wasnt so, but it is, and until we ALL get of the high horses that we are on, its going to continue just like this....MISERABLE!

There are really stupid people of all races. Really stupid people are the ones who attack others - provoked or not - doesn't matter. There's NEVER a time when physicall attacks are acceptable. Ever. Stupid white people who hang nooses and all that need to be expelled and put somewhere to learn to deal with society better. Stupid black people who attack people need this same treatment.

What doesn't matter is the race of the person doing the stupid act. What matters is that those of us who AREN'T that stupid don't stoop to their level. Instead, we try to talk rationally, educate others, set examples of behavior. Not come on here and talk trash. That does ZERO to help any race at all.

Why can't we, no matter what our race, just admit that yep, we've got stupid people of our same race doing some stupid things. BUT, that doesn't mean we ALL are. It means if we have a shred of decency, we rise above all that, not stoop to it.

I am a 50 yr old, southern white male. I am also a man with common sense. If you are referring to the situation in Jena, then entire episode most definately looks like a racist situation. Anyone who does not view the hanging of the nooses as a hate crim is someone who simply wishes to avoid reality.

Please give me an updated story where Damien admits that this is a hate crime. So far I've read that Damien believes he was beat up because he's a new kid at school. Otherwise stfu!
