Hallow's eve or Halloween (Oct 31) aka Samhain is the Pagan New Year...It is the time when ancestors come to share time with us as the seperation between realms is thin.

I don't think All Hallows Eve was a Pagan holiday. It was always the night before All Saints Day (Nov 1).

All Hallows Eve is Catholic. Samhain is Pagan, but has little in common with Halloween (which I'm guessing is where this question is going)

It is Saimhain(I'm not sure of the spelling), the night when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest. It is when contact with the spirit world is best. It is also the wiccan New Year. It is celebrated on Halloween night-Oct. 31.
