Someone at the 'other end' can only record video of you if you have a webcam, it's switched on, and you've allowed them to view it.
Most 'chat' programs have a facility to store (record) what has been typed in too.
Thus, don't use a webcam with anyone you don't trust, and watch what you say in chat-rooms or e-mail on same basis.
Of course not ALL people are nasty, but never the less take care!

You don't need a hacking programme to do this. Once you put your video and voice on the line, anyone connected to you sees you through their machine. It is very easy with standard software to record the video stream and voice has been recordable since Windows 98 as standard.

wow, because you dont have an external webcam set up and running, thats how..
computer monitors don't come with cameras built in (well, unless you have a new mac...) so no one can see you unless you physically give the computer a command to turn on a webcam.. it is impossible. you are safe!
But beware my technologically advanced friend, if you do take a picture of yourself, the camera steals your soul!!!!

You need to assume that EVERYTHING has the potential of being taped and redistributed. If you show your "other" parts on the web, don't ever show your face. EVER! For ANY reason!

If you are worried about it don't send pictures or use a web cam. If you aren't there is not way for them to see you.

If your wireless is hacked someone can capture it from the street or next door. If your neighbor is smiling, you now know why. :^)
