Please be nice with this answer all of you computer literate people, but I was wondering if you could buy a wireless card or some sort of attachment to add to your desktop PC to make it wireless. If so, where and how much and how practical is this?

You can get a Wifi PCI card for your desktop PC. It costs around $40 to $50. Attach and you are wireless. You can also find a USB version of it for the same price.

You also need to connect to a wireless internet router to explore the net. You can get it for $60 to$100. DWL -2100 AP or Netgear WGT624V3

I agree with the first two guys. The USB device will be the easiest to install because all you have to do is plug it into a USB port. The PCI you need to open up the cover of your desktop and put it in, but still really easy to do. Either type of adaptor will come with the drivers and software you need. Wi-Fi is a great way to get rid of one more cord under your desk. The adapters range from $30-$100, check out www.tigerdirect.com.

Get a PCI Wireless card or a USB Wifi device (802.11G), both work well and eliminate the need to run Ethernet cables all over the house.

Of course, you'll also need a Wireless router.

This is very easy to do especially with a USB network adapter - if you have XP - it is pretty much plug and play. If not, install the DRIVERS ONLY off the install CD first - before plugging in the adapter.
