I'm going out on a limb here, but I think most people are tired of hearing about their "upcoming" albums...for plenty of reasons.

How do you think these new albums will be received by their respective fans and the public here in the States and worldwide?

lovnrckets - I agree about Mike's fate here in the US, but what about overseas where he's still fairly popular? GNR is too, I guess, so who knows which one will inspire more consumers to open up their wallets?

Hmmm...

Rocket Queen - that's OK! Your answer, along with Dan H's, show that despite any curiosity some might have towards this project, some fans don't feel that are really getting a new GNR album with most of the line-up now in Velvet Revolver. I've heard that some of the original members may have "appearances" on it, but who knows what's fact or fiction with this project any more?

Urgh.
I hate thinking about the new "Guns N' Roses"
-sighs-

-I think overall Michael Jackson will sell more records, because despite all the allegations he still has a fan base. Thriller is the best selling album of all time, I doubt /all/ the people that loved his music deserted him.
- I think people will feel iffy about buying his album though, because although he was never charged... he still has the metaphorical "I Love Little Kiddys" stamp on his forehead..

"GN'R"... -sighs-
I expect they'll sell a fair few albums.
Fans of the new line-up [not necessarily the old], and people that just want to see what all the fuss is about, will buy the album.
But as the band... disbanded, it lost a fair few fans... that will effect sales.
Plus they were never as big as Michael Jackson anyway, so although both have lost fans.. Michael's fan base will always be bigger.
But who knows, if Chinese Democracy ever comes out, the sales might surprise me.
I'm still undecided on whether I'll buy it or not.

Okay I'm in an iffy mood now that I've dedicated so much time to Axl and his back up band.
Ha.

BRING BACK THE CLASSIC GN'R LINE-UP!
[sorry i had to]

I think the new Guns N Roses will only because Axl only has the stigma of being a nut job as opposed to a child molester. There are a lot of hardcore GnR fans that will buy this album no matter how bad it likely will be. And yes, I think we have been hearing about the release of Chinese Democracy for almost ten years. That's unheard of. Just release the damn thing already, it's not like you have to worry about protecting your rep anymore. That's already been shot to Hell.

Jacko will only be a punchline going forward. Whatever hardcore fans he might have had at one point will likely not care about this new album. He may sell some units but not enough to redeem himself.

I would say neither artist will fare much differently overseas. With the exception of the third world, the rest of the world is plugged into what's been going on with these two.

I'm thinking that in the U.S. Chinese Democracy will sell better, but internationally Michael Jackson will end up selling better and thus selling better overall. The X factor that we won't know until the tracks can actually be accessed is which, if either, are actually any good. In both cases, for different reasons, it would be my concern that neither will live up to the perceived standards. I have a feeling that Michael is quite possibly out of touch and the Guns and Roses album could never live up to the hype of being anticipated for going on a decade. Although, if either of the records ends up being some sort of a revelation it would certainly effect the outcome.

I'll go with GNR since there are a lot of negative things(publicity) about michael jackson. Anyways, he's been out of the scene quite sometime now. People expect new artists and new batch of songs. If michael can surpass other artists of this time then congratulations to him. Anyways, GNR can well blend with young people with their new album.

Probably Michael Jackson. He is more popular than Guns N Roses. More people know of Michael Jackson than GNR.

It's a non-question. By the time Chinese Democracy is released, the planet will have been taken over by cockroaches with psychic powers. We'll no longer have free will; we will just do their bidding. What's that? Pour some Coke on the floor? Yes master.

Well, like u going out on a limb as well and I would go with GNR over MJ. MJ has had too.... many issues and though he at one time had bookoo fans world wide too much bad crap has gone down with him. So, I'm thinking more of GNR definitely!
