Your child should not have the right to block you out of his computer for any reason. Take the computer out of his room and tell him that you are going to put everything back to factory settings and he will loose all his data... that should scare him enough to give you the password. Then make an administrative account on there that only you know the password to. Are you paying for the internet? Is he living in your house? Does he eat your food and use your water/electricity??? Then you are the one that needs to stand up and tell him what he has to do. The only reason why he should be able to block you out is if he purchased that computer on his own... good luck.

OK, you are the parent, they are the child. If they won't give you the password, then take the computer away from them until they do. After you get the administrator account password, be sure to setup a backup administrator account for future use if needed.

** Edit **
If you look at the profile for the asker, the questions and answers for them don't exactly match up to a kid. I had thought the same thing initially (as those who answered later) but after a quick check, it seems to be a legitimate question.

Take the computer out of his room and don't let him use it until he gives you the password. Then create an administrator account that only you know the password to and change his account so it's not an admin account anymore.

How old is he exactly? I doubt you are trying to "check the antivirus". If he's over the age of 14 and you haven't installed a "net nanny" or parental control program on his PC, then of course he has tons of porn on it; it would be strange if he didn't.

Hold F8 when the computer is starting to go on safe mode and chose to go on as administrator then either change his account or make yourself an account on his computer.

You should teach him how to maintain his own computer if that's the case.

With respect, I think that's an excuse for wanting access to his computer. If you want to look at his activities, you can say so...but generally without administrative access you are pretty SOL. You'd have to have handy some "tools" to bypass NTFS security.
