has become all dried and all gross and crusty around my spots. It looks horrendous, worse than without foundation.

I do like the foundation I have at the moment though...

how can I help to keep the bad bits of my skin concealed throughout the day ?

Thank you to anyone who has any advice !

thanks to everyone !! If this helps I wear a liquid foundation, it goes on smoothly and it completely covers my skin without looking like I'm wearing a thing, but during the day I don't really have the time to re-touch it and I don't know what to do to make it stay on. And what is a face primer ? :S

it depends on your skin type, humidity, type of your physical activiity etc
if you have oily or mixed skin you're foundation is bound to get oily sooner or later even if you're using the best matte effect foundation. if you are in a dry or hot environment it will attract moisurture, dirts etc...if you do physicaly activities even climbing stairs or running or if you're in stress you're going to sweat and it will ruin the finish
the best thing to do is to retouch though it wont be perfect like the morning application...carry some easy retouch foundation in your handbag thats what I do
also make sure you're following all the golden rules of applying foundation like start makeup with clean face, apply little moisturiser before foundation, you can use some foundation prior too, use wet sponge to mend and mend well, set with loose powder etc ...it wont make your foundation last all day but it will make your foundation stay longer
also apply one thats suitable to your skin....dont apply it too heavy or too light...keep some tissue paper handy ...
best wishes

I use the new fit me foundation. It's made by maybelline. I love it. Do you by chance touch your face a lot or have oily skin? Anyway, your best bet to really make any foundation last from 8am to midnight would be to use a primer first. This is how you would do it, Wash your face and exfoliate and moisturize. Once your skin is completely dry and the moisturizer has set in, apply the primer all over same way you would foundation. Then use any blemish covers you normally use. Then apply your foundation. Let your foundation set too. Then apply your powder. Here are some great options for primer that can be bought at any local drugstore for an array of prices. I've heard great things about the Urban Decay. I've also been told these do last quite a while as you don't need a ton. Just enough to apply evenly.

Well, what about your foundation do you like? I mean, if by the end of the day its look pretty rough, why do you like it? Any way, try using a primer first before your foundation... keeps your skin smooth and even looking pretty much all day... Primer helps keep your skin touch up free all day long. Probably your best bet. Or try a really good moisterizer first.

are you using a concealer over your spots? That might be part of the problem. Also, the foundation might be the problem - it might be too heavy on your skin. You could see if there's a powder in the same range as your foundation, because that'll probably be light enough just to go over your spots, without going weird around them.

I have heard that if you but milk of magnesia on ur skin before ur foundation it usually does the trick.

if you use concealer, then thats your problem. go for a powder. apply the powder with a brush all over your face, and where ever needs more attention like discoloration, apply with your finger.
