OMG one, my children are older so the sippy cups my children had were not like the sippy cups my grandson has. Secondly, I know how to clean the cup, but I am concerned about germs, bacteria which may hide in those small sections that went unnoticed. His mom and I talked about this a few months ago when she discovered this and it concerns me since I have a huge germ phobia. TY

Soak it in some warm soapy dish soap water. Most of the gunk will float out of those hidden areas. Then you can run it through the dishwasher to sanitize it on the top shelf.

How To Clean Sippy Cups

Use white vinegar and a bottle brush, sometimes you get the tiny brush with the big one and that works better. White vinegar is safe for humans but has the same disinfecting powers as bleach. So soak the cups, tops, & valves in a 10 to 1 mixture and then scrub with the brush. If the cup has mold that doesn't come out in 2 soakings then I'd toss it.

I replace the sippy cups every 2-3 months

You should separate the cup parts, and then get water, and 1/2 cup "bleach" over night. The next day, the cup will be thoroughly cleaned. This is the best way to "hit" every little crevice in the separations. Peace, Love and God Bless.

Get a bottle brush and after the cup has soaked for a while just scrub it real well with the bottle brush and it should come out.
And, you can always buy replacement parts (if you have the kind that have removable guards that keep the liquid from spilling). I have bought these on eBay before.

If your talking about the one's that dont spill.

They have those little plastic pieces, they can be removed ans soaked in soapy water, then also soak in 1 gal. of hot water with a tsp of bleach. then rinse well.

Also they do sell the replacement pieces for them at places like walmart/ target... throw away the insert and buy new.

You can use Milton or any other sterilizing solution used especially for cleaning new born baby´s drinking bottles. As I´m sure you already know , this will clean your child´s drinking cup and sterilize it at the same time

I always take my daughters apart and soak them in hot soapy water. If any gunk is in there it all usually floats out and then I just run them through the dishwasher

I soak my daughter's in hot soapy bleach water. Bleach will kill anything. I let it soak for about thirty minutes. Good luck. 2D
