Haven't you read the news? He's trying to put political pressure on them right now. Obviously there aren't any good military solutions to Myanmar right now (it's a very complex situation, and our military is already tied up), but I think he's trying to do what he can. The US, and George W. Bush in particular, have been trying to pressure the ruling junta in Burma into democratic reform and human rights improvement for a long time, but Myanmar is a very tough nut to crack.
EDIT: Galen W apparently has no clue what he is talking about. The US (as well as the EU) has had sanctions on the junta in Myanmar for many years; we certainly do NOT supply them with weapons; that's what China and Russia do, unfortunately. We tried to take action against the junta in the UN Security Council less than a year ago, but China and Russia vetoed it. They are the ones who are trying to exploit Burma's plentiful natural resources, not us. Give the US what credit it deserves; although it hasn't solved the situation in Burma, it has been trying to help.

It's a tragedy that you are so blinded. If you think that Iran hasn't "done anything"...you are crazy! They are aiding the killing of our soldiers in Iraq! And about the people of Myanmar...Bush just spoke to the UN and wanted to help the people...We definitely should be involved but so should the UN...afterall...isn't that the job of the UN? The UN is such a joke.

Myanmar doesn't have oil, and is a military dictatorship that buys American weapons. Iran does have oil, and is resisting US efforts to once again overthrow it's legitimate government.

Do you think Americans are that stupid? "Iran hasn't done anything?" I think supplying an enemy combatant with missiles is considered doing "something". I think developing a nuclear weapons program is considered doing "something". Your point was what?
