You should not take assistance from a law student -- because the law student could get into trouble for unauthorized practice of law -- California law is very strict about that.

Perhaps a law school in your area has a clinic that can help. Also, check with Legal Aid. You have to be pretty broke (as opposed to just being cheap) to get assistance from these services.
