Depends on where it is.

Just remember if the store guys drop it they get you a new fridge. But if you do you are out.

That said I have put all my applances in myself, but I have a lot of experence doing it.

The absolute safest thing to do is to have it done, but as you can see it costs to do so. Some retailers offer this service for free within a area of the store.

Delivery or installation?
Installing a refrigerator is simply a matter of plugging it in and sometimes connecting a water line. Those can both be accomplished with the following tools: Your hands, and a wrench.
Of course, it is an entirely different story if the water line is not already there.

Certainly if you happen to be local and they charge; and if you have a buddy; a hand truck; a truck for the pickup; don't live on the third floor; have any minor tools you might need; don't have an old refriferator to dispose of; the time and desire to do the leg work; you might consider this as a DIY and use the $120 to stock the refrig.

Personally I'd prefer having someone else do it from store to chilling.

WORTH is kind of a Relative word; when balanced against what other things one might have to consider. Certainly you could exercise you Greatest personal freedom; "CHOICE" and shop elsewhere.

NO!!!!! Install a refrigerator? It isn't rocket science! Just make sure the thing is level on the floor! Plug it in and you are done! Wow! People really pay for that? I must be in the wrong business!

Our new refrigerator was purchased at Sears with no install fee involved. They rolled it in, hooked it to the water line and plugged it in.

Not unless they are installing an ice maker with it. Delivery should be free including plugging it in the wall and taking away the box. You might have to pay to get rid of the old one and to have the ice maker connected to the water pipe and a filter.
