I need to use a wig for halloween but, I am really lost on this.
First off size, is it based on head circumfrence?

2. keeping it on. I hear taupe tape on the forehead and neck (on the skin only)

then I hear to use the adhesive spray on your neck and forehead with lots of bobby pins in the top and sides.

Thanks for the help.

I've just used a wig cap (some look like a stocking or part of pantyhose and some are way more complicated looking but easier to pin a wig to) then you put the wig on top and secure it with big gigantic bobby pins that match the color of the wig. You can get them at most beauty supply stores.

For size, measure around your head, across your forehead, behind your ears, down below the hairline.

Some wigs come in these sizes but many will just come in average:
Petite/Petite -- 20¾"
Petite -- 21"
Petite/Average -- 21¼"
Average -- 21½"
Average/Large -- 22½"
Large -- 23"

Many wig sites have more info on how to measure, what sizes they come in, and how to put them on. Just search for them.

good luck!

If you buy a wig from a costume shop they usually have a place in the back to adjust them. Also, unless it's a very thin wig it shouldn't matter too much if it's a tiny bit big. The "hair" will keep it from being visible.

The best (and most comfortable) way to keep a wig on in my experience is to wear a wig cap underneath and then pin into the wig cap and your hair underneath with bobby pins.

There are other methods used with hair-lace wigs in theater, but for Halloween costume purposes a wig cap is your best bet.

wigs are "sort of" based on head size. They are not made in exact sizes like hats are. They have wigs for small to average size heads, and wigs for large heads. On wigs (not the cheaper costume ones they sell in dept. stores for Halloween) they have a place to adjust the size in the back inside. If the wig is adjusted to fit well, you really don't have to worry about it falling off or the wind blowing it off. You will be surprised at how well they fit and stay on. You should need nothing more to keep it on your head. You can apply double sided tape to your upper forehead if you feel you need to.

look for a wig at walmart and try it on. If it feels perfect then get it.
