Have a normal party, either a cook out, picnic at a park, or pot luck. Perhaps you could have it at a favorite restaurant and reserve a room. Don't make it like a "final good by" party, but more like a "thanks for the memories" and "we'll keep in touch" party. It won't be quite as sad that way.
Whatever you do for the party, give each one an address book filled in with addresses, emails, and phone #s of the people present. You could do this in a blank notebook where each person writes a short good by note. Take plenty of pictures of the whole group that you can later email to them, or frame and send them.

IT IS ALWAYS SAD TO SAY GOOD-BYE, SO KEEP THE PARTY UPBEAT.. FIGURE OUT WHAT ALL YOU HAVE DONE THAT YOU REALLY HAVE ENJOYED. START FROM THERE. I KNOW IT SOUNDS CORNY, BUT BOWLING, MINIATURE GOLF, ETC. THEN OUT TO DINNER. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO COST AN ARM & LEG TO HAVE A GREAT TIME.

You should all go to a local bar (get a limo so no one has to drive) get schnockered, and bring disposable cameras!
