I have many great plans for my future. Like making my own movies and get to Hollywood; cause I know my screenplays are worth it; but my family thinks I'm just a dreamer and should live as an ordinary girl. I really could use some help. :(

Realize that their lack of faith, while it may be worry for you to prepare you for your dreams not coming true, shouldn't hold you back. Do it for them to show them that there are things beyond their imagination. Good luck.

A lot of people think that because so few people make it. I wouldn't argue the point! Just don't give up your dream. It doesn't matter how long it takes, if it means that much to you, you can do it! Do your best in school and work on your screenplays in the meantime and don't be afraid of rejection!
I finally published a story I'd written over 4 years ago! It's on an internet publishing site but, it is still officially published and for sale, so it means a lot to me! If I can do it, so can you.

Hang out with people that are supportive... Some people accept their "lot in life" and never accomplish much other than a 9 to 5 job that they hate... maybe a house that they hate paying for... the occasional dinner at Red Lobster... nights in front of the television complaining that there's nothing good on, etc...

You do need to have that "I can be what I want" attitude and nothing helps you with that so much as other people that are similarly motivated. It can make a huge difference to be around folk that are positive and excited and *know* that they're going somewhere. Don't ditch your family just yet but do seek out similarly minded people.

Having a son who has dreams such as you do, I would say just do it. I put my son through film school and he is in LA in the movie industry. Nothing big and glamourous, but paying his dues, working and learning his craft. Don't let any one stop you by making you think you should do what they want you to. Even if you have to work your *** off , go for it. You will never be happy living some one else's dream.

they will believe in your hard work if you give them reason too...keep at it! Your family is probably concerned because you are attempting to enter a highly competitive industry that many wish to, but few actually get to.

Get a strong educational background (study acting...travel!...expose yourself to as many cultures and areas as possible- it will only broaden your abilities)

Good luck to you

Make believers out of them. Follow your dream and make it happen.

Those who want something bad enough find a way....

When you don't have the support of others, you do for yourself...
