Two words: Jena Six. Racism and sexism are either swept under the rug or are more covert in the US.Thus why people are so surprised when events like what's happening in Louisiana jump off.

After Obama it will be extremely difficult for a black After Sotomayor somewhat difficult for a Hispanic All arguments in USA end up with somebody being called a racist, or &itler. It's our national pastime. I'm expecting a woman to get Oval, (in at least two places -- little Groucho Marx there -- sorry) before another black or any other minority. I'm hoping for Hillary, if she's got the stuff in her to try again. Bill was our best President since Eisenhower. Results speak louder than anything -- 23 million net new jobs and most of them good jobs. He had a fabulous team, some of whom would be happy to work for Hillary, or at least send their best proteges. Hillary has gotten to be a workhorse in the Senate. She knows what debacle is cause she made one. She knows legislative maneuvre. She knows bad leadership (Pelosi + Reid), and most of all she knows what middle America wants and needs. Policy is the quintessential skill in the Oval. Once you sit down behind that desk you are well and truly alone. Everybody becomes a rear end kisser. You can't trust your best friends to give it to you straight. You have to go out and find strangers who will do it. Hillary knows how to do that. She is the most unafraid person I ever knew. All she wants is to get it right, cheap, fast, and good. She wants to serve. She's cautious, politic, and meticulous. She's been the victim of 1000 injustices, some big some small, but all painful. Pain shapes character. It makes a well-defined person -- a person in full, it is the crucible that burns away the dross and leaves the gold. She's been there, done that, she's ready, if she's willing. It will take the heart of a lion -- the very one she has. The only person I can think of perfectly fit to run with her is Andrew Cuomo the Attorney General of New York. He's smart, gutsy, ready to serve. But the Constitution says no, prez and VP can't both be from one state. She actually would be better off with a distinguished General like Barry MacCaffrey to allay the false ideas that people might have about her lack of preparedness to be Commander in Chief. A guy like Michael Steele doesn't have a chance after Obama, if that's what you were thinking. I wasn't a racist in my thoughts, well, not a really big fat one anyway, until I got Obama-Shock. As a military man, I never paid much attention to people's race. But Obama has been such a disappointment -- how am I supposed to feel about him, and be honest with you? Well, I won't let it carry over to any other person. But Steele doesn't have a chance IMHO. And I'm from Maryland, so I should like him. He did a good job here.

RE:
If racism and sexisim no longer exist in the USA, then why haven't we elected a minority for president?
Minority meaning non-white non-male... Hillary Clinton( female) or Barack Obama(non-white american)
If the Queen of England is able to run things over there.. why are Americans so afraid to put women in power

We're not, actually. A woman is presently Speaker of the House, which means she's right behind the VP in succession to the Presidency. Several states have female governors, and a large percentage of presidents are former governors.
It's not that we don't want a woman president. It's that we don't want that particular woman as president. Same with Obama. People don't find him to be particularly appealing.
So, what about an Italian-American as President? What's wrong with Rudy as a minority candidate? How about Romney as a member of a minority religion? Why the subtle prejudice against conservative minorities by lumping them all into being "White Anglo-Saxon Protestants" when clearly there are some minorities you're discriminating against by totally denying their existence?

Racism and sexism DO exist in the United States, it's just not official. Unfortunately, a lot of people are like that, and that is why we didn't have a woman or minority president.

Because unless you forgot, this great Nation is held in check by the majority rule and the majority is going to vote for the most qualified not a minority follower that doesn't have the interest of the whole Country in mind. The Queen of England doesn't run as much as you think, that job belongs to parliament. Liberals follow special interest groups because of their financial influence, lucky for us we all still get a vote or We would no longer be Free Country, we would be a Muslim/Communist Nation.

First the Queen of England is a figurehead does not run things the Prime Minister does along with the Parliament. In this country it has taken time for minorities and women to move up the political ranks to noted service in the Senate, Governorships and other roles which would show they are ready for the role of President.

the queen isn't elected and doesn't really do much other than wave and be extraordinarily civil. the brits did elect margaret thatcher 20 years ago though.
the united states likes to politicize everything. how many times does the fact hillary is a woman and barak has a non-white parent come up? if you brought up the fact that margaret thatcher were indeed a woman brits would look at you kind of like you belonged in special ed classes. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize a man is a man and a woman is a woman. except for ann coulter and that big adams apple -- that always makes me wonder. oddly enough bill richardson doesn't come up at all because he looks really white.
the united states has learned to define itself by its opposition to its differences. Hopefully we can reverse that because its not getting us anywhere.

By your definition-- non-white & non-male -- a minority is composed of the largest percentage of people in this country. White & male is actually a much smaller percentage than the rest of the population.
So, ask the minorities why they vote the way they do!
There are more women than men in America, so maybe, people vote on ideology and not superficial reasons like sex and race.
P.S.! Are you voting for Hillary to be Queen of America?
I thought that revolution thing over 200 years ago had settled what Americans thought about Kings and Queens !!!

most whites wont vote for a black canidate. look at Iowa, the state is nearly all white, on the democrat side John Edwards is #1, Hillary #2 and Obama #3, nearly every other state its Hillary #1, Obama #2, Edwards #3
racism and sexism are alive and strong here, just shows up in different ways than it used to
a white male dropout with a conviction is more likely to find a job than a black male with no criminal history and a degree.
how else do you explain that?
