Thank you! Jesus also said to "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who persecute you, and pray for those who spitefully use you so that you may be the sons and daughters of your father in heaven; he causes his sun to shine of the just and the unjust and his rain to fall on the righteous along with the wicked; therefore be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect."
This is supposedly the "christian nation" we didn't care about turning the cheek on 9/11 did we?

Actually, under the original Hebrew, the most accurate translation is "thou shalt not murder" -- and murder is limited to the killing of another human being, for reasons other than war, self defense or as otherwise allowed by the laws.
So, the rules in the Bible that require killing someone who works on the sabbath -- those are not a contradiction, because that killing is allowed -- hence it is not murder.
Same with killing animals -- though interestingly, the kosher requirements that also exist say that when killing animals, it must be done quickly, so that they do not suffer. A requirement that is not present when killing people for criminal transgressions -- the suffering of a criminal is completely allowed.

Well, first of all, not every country has every citizen with a mini armory at home.
many European countries for example have private ownership of firearms declared illegal.
One excuse some will use - is that " they " didn`t kill the animals that they eat, so they are innocent. Hogwash, i know, but still - some people do claim it.
Also, as to killing burglars - weird as it may sound, but isn`t that the risk of the job?

"Thou shalt not kill" is the King James version rewritten by English Clergy in the 15th and 16th century.
The original text in Hebrew states, "Thou shalt not commit murder" which is a totally different meaning that "Thou shalt not kill".
The bible speaks of self defense in various passages.
The most famous verse states, " An eye for an eye, a sword for a sword".
Basically, do not kill people by committing murder. However, if your life depended on it, you will not be judged negatively for defending your life by taking the life of your attacker.

The Bible also describes massacres commanded in the name of God. Total warfare in the name of God. Mass murders, extinction of all living things except what would fit on a boat, etc...
You can find a justification for most anything in the Bible, depending on the way you interpret the words and twist the meaning.

Don't you ever take the Word of God out of context. That is a huge sin!!!
God judges the heart!
There is a verse in Proverbs that says "A fool believes in his heart there is no God". Don't try to quote the second half of that verse out of context, "there is no God" to argue for Atheism.
God said He would forgive sins because His chosen people offered a "BLOOD sacrifice"...not just a bleeding cut...it required KILLING!!! So killing was required, then and at other times.
The correct interpretation to the commandment is obviously, "Thou shalt not MURDER." I guess it could be stretched to cover fatal DUI's, but not "friendly fire" accidents!
God judges the heart! Motivations do matter!!!
It is necessary to kill invaders, for the defence of your loved ones!
Becoming a vegetarian is a good thing, but not required by God for admission to heaven, so killing animals obviously is not meant by this commandment.
God judges the heart! Not just results.

it extremely is the reason I abandoned faith, i could no longer stand that hypocrisy anymore! i attempted to have this communicate with Christians however the human beings I asked have been very slender-minded. All they could say is that God placed animals on the earth to serve human beings, of their comments there are not the different motives for animals being on the earth. What approximately animals in distant areas that in the time of no way even observed a human and while dinosaurs roamed the Earth??? (oh yeah, I forgot, the planet is 5000 years old, helpful...). isn't it disrespectful to God to wreck his introduction (killing animal, polluting the Earth, etc..)??? those human beings I talked to look to think of no longer... They justify their weapons with "a enamel for a enamel" yet they're in denial once I asked approximately Jesus showing the different cheek... They with ease "ignore" approximately Jesus and the commandments. human beings tend to cite regardless of serves them perfect on the time. i think in God and that i'm a vegetarian ("Thou shalt no longer kill" ability some thing to me) yet i'm no longer religious, human beings use faith to justify their irrational habit, seem at what's going on international...a minimum of, the seventh Adventists are vegetarians.

You're kidding, right? The Bible does not say, "Thou shalt let other people kill you." The technical transalation is "Thou shalt not murder." Self-defense is not murder.
The Bible also says that Man shall have dominion over animals. Part of that dominion is that they are food.
Don't know what your agenda really is, but your arguments are specious.

The original text was "Thou shall not murder". The whole idea was changed by Christian interpretation to focus on the idea of taking a life is wrong under any circumstances, because only God has that right!

I'm with you on this one! As a vegetarian, I was actually just thinking the same thing this morning. The Bible says "Thou Shalt not Murder," but Murder is defined as:
1. Law. the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder).
2. Slang. something extremely difficult or perilous: That final exam was murder!
3. a group or flock of crows.
–verb (used with object) 4. Law. to kill by an act constituting murder.
5. to kill or slaughter inhumanly or barbarously.
6. to spoil or mar by bad performance, representation, pronunciation, etc.: The tenor murdered the aria.
–verb (used without object) 7. to commit murder.
Now, if numbers 1 and 5 don't convince you killing animals is murder, I don't know what will. How can we ever truly consider ourselves civilized while we are eating the flesh of one of God's other creatures?
