The theory is that the hair helps maintain some moisture, so as to let potential mates smell that you are ready to make babies.
I agree that totally shaving it looks a little pedophilic.
But ultimately it is just a matter of personal taste. It IS kind of hard to see all the nice things going on if there is a lot of hair.

Well the hair down there is really there to help keep infection and bacteria out from out privates. Some people like it shorter or no hair down there though. I agree about the child-like privates and why it is acceptable. I wish that the views of the hair there would not be so strict! Sometimes people don't always want to shave there every day just so it will be up to the standards of what looks good. Just like with girls being skinny and what a "perfect" body is. A "perfect" body is different in everyone's eyes! It doesn't have to be skinny or big and small in all the right places. Geez!

I think it's safe to guess the trim trend, this time around, was motivated by the changes in women's bathing suit styles - thong. No doubt the hair sticking out was not aesthetic to the design.
I also think it's safe to assume that trimming could led to more pedophile related thoughts - after all men are looking at and touching a grown up imitation of a child's private area.
Some men might get hungry for the real thing, but trimming in and of itself doesn't scream pedophile.
As others have stated - the hair 'down' there is our body taking care of itself ---- of course we tend to interfere with letting our body do what this splendid organic machine is capable of - lol

the hair has no purpose now that we wear clothing. i personally love being clean shaven because i feel cleaner and i don't sweat as much down there when i exercise. my boyfriends in the past have always loved it and my new guy loves it too. I shave for cleanliness/hygiene purposes but it's always great when my bf goes down on me and really goes to town without getting little hairs stuck in his teeth.

Why do we shave our legs? Pierce our ears? Pluck out eyebrows? Where makeup? Why do we paint our toes?
I do not think that it is pedophilic. I also don't think it has anything to do with a dirty perception of our genetalia. I buzz mine because it is more comfortable.

Um, maybe the fact that you even equate a shaven bush to a child's private area means that you are a pedophile.
Got therapy?

Shaving genital area doesn't make you a pedophile. Sexual contact with children does. The two are completely different. 2D

Not that I've talked about this at length often, but I've wondered the same thing.
I can't stand it when my girlfriend's have been "bald". I want to be with a woman, not a girl.

first it is smooth.
most,, really just trim
some shave shapes and some landing strips.
it seem you're making something sexually perverted of a simple grooming feature.
self examination,,,, WHY you looking.. ??
Purpose..??none,,, remember most everyone NOW bathes or showers daily. and change underwear daily.
Now that water is always available...

No one likes a mouth full of pubes. That's why many of us trim at the very least, it's just a courtesy to our partner.
