The Anaheim Ducks’ Moen-Pahlsson-Niedermayer have the momentum and the title going into this season, Ottawa lost Schaefer and Comrie via free agency and Fischer has shown he is more of a 2nd line center. Detroit gets a lot of pub on tv but this isn't the Draper-Maltby of the pre lockout era, Maltby play has clearly diminished and Draper was a minus 5 with 24 PIM last playoffs overall and was minus 7 in the Western Conference finals vs. the Ducks.
Look at how the Ducks line performed, Niedermayer 3g 2a +4) Pahlsson (1g 2a +2) and Moen (1g 2a +2). (5g 6a +8) Not too bad for the checking line and did there job on the D-side Detroit’s Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom line was a combined minus 3 and had only 5 even strength points between the 3 and all but one coming in the game#3 5-0 blow out

the capitals. i know i sound like a crazy home town fan but hear me out. the caps checking line is Chris Clark a thirty goal scorer this past season. Matt Pettenger 16 goals last season and 20 the season before that. and Boyd Gordon one of the strongest prospects in the franchise and also, in my opinion, the most underrated defensive forward in the league. when you have a guy like Gordon thinking defense first and two gritty guys on either side of him the opposing team is going to be hard put to get anything on the board. and with basically three defense man it gives Clark and Pettenger a pretty good chance to put something on the board themselves.

Mike the avs fan hit it on the head with Anaheims 3rd line they dont give up too many goals and manage to score a few while killing pps my runner up would have to be the Devils with Pandolfo Madden and Brylin if they keep it at that or even if they dont Pandolfo and Madden can carry the load and Marty in net makes up for the rest

Valterri Filpulla centering Dan Cleary and Kris Draper. If they stay together, I don't see any 3rd lines being better, Val has tons of skill, Drapes is one of the leaders on the team, and Cleary is a hard nosed speedster. In fact, Val is one of the faster guys on the team, but easily the slowest on that line. They're going to give defensemen windburn when they go flying by them.

What about Anaheim? Moen, Pahlsson and R. Niedermayer. They were outstanding in the playoffs. Naturally Detroit's checking line will be one of the best, if not the best checking line this season, they play in a very offensively-challenged division.

Definitely Detroit...hard nosed, don't give up goals, and put up points when they need to.
