Do you have to get a pap smear before getting on birth control. I'm like scared to death of the gyno and I refuse to go, but I would like to be on birth control.

Probably yes.
There's no reason to be afraid, it's not painful and the exam lasts all of 30 seconds, literally.
You have to respect your body enough to go. You can't detect cancer and other serious female problems if you don't go to the doctor.
Part of being an adult is doing what's best, and that means you have to suck it up for the sake of being healthy.

Yep, gotta have the pap test and pelvic exam. And please don't refuse to go. You'll have to go eventually. I used to work in ER and believe me we aren't thinking anything while working on your parts at all. Just doing what we have to do. We don't make comments or jokes after you're gone. Once your gone you are out of our minds. So don't think he's going to see something new on you. Not possible. Having a pelvic isn't as bad as you think and takes a lot less time then you think

xxx.

it's not a requirement but it is good to have a pap smear on a regular basis because it can help detect the early stages of cervical cancer.
but you should see a gynecologist so she/he could explain to you the risk of taking birth control pills. also, if you have any questions about taking the pills, ,what you can expect, a gynecologist could explain it to you.

Most doctors require an exam (pap) before prescribing birth control. It's for your safety as well as the safety of their licenses.

i might pass with the IUD if I have been you. I had the Mirena IUD for 3 years, and have presently had it bumped off to attempt for toddler extensive type 2. The IUD grow to be painless to get in, I had it put in at my 6 week verify up after my daughter grow to be born. that is secure to apply in case you're nursing your newborn, and it lasts for 5 years!!! Plus you do no longer could tension approximately pills or something. the only think of i did no longer be responsive to once I have been given the Mirena is that is can take awhile on your menstral cycles to return to familiar after having the IUD bumped off. I had mine bumped off in December 2008, and in the previous couple months my cycles have finally returned to familiar, different than that, I especially propose the IUD!
