Let's see. My first pregnancy, I packed EVERYTHING the books told me to. Second time, about 2/3. Third time...my bag was lucky to be even half full! lol My reasoning: 1. You are only there for about 24 hours (unless complications arise or a C-section), 2. Bring a bathrobe, but not a nightgown. My first baby I brought this beautiful new nightgown...and then got blood all over it. Just bring the bathrobe to cover up over your hospital gown when you get up or guests visit. Some slippers will be good, but only the kind you easily slip into. The ones that craddle your foot are a no-no. Do you really want to have to grab them off the floor to put over your feet and then go touch your baby? 3. Makeup? Why...when you have a crying baby and just want to sleep, who cares about your makeup? You are not going to. Just pack some basic toiletries (deodorant, perfume, etc.) And unless you are going to a beauty pageant after, just a brush will surfice. 4. Lastly, bring your diaper bag if you want to. Although, I suggest just bringing a couple of cute baby clothes for pictures and maybe booties/cap. The hospital provides the diapers and other necessities, and also gives you a diaper bag. You're gonna end up carrying two out if you bring your own.
Trust me...you will regret bringing too much when you have to make 3 trips carrying it all back to the car. Just bring the necessities and you will be a lot happier. Hope this helps!! Sorry for the length though. lol GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

don't pack now, you will forget what you have packed and may find that nothing fits or is right for the weather. I am 37 weeks adn I have just started packing my bag. I know that I overpacked for my last baby. this time I am taking 2 night gowns, 2 bras, 4 pr of undies (the hospital gives you throw aways, but they are annoying) and a baby outfit or 2. Maybe some socks and a robe, but thats it!! I had 2 big bags last time, it was almost untouched. The hospital gives wipes, diapers, a blanket, a hat, ect. I didn;t need any of that. And if i have forgotten anything I really need, there are stores nearby that my hubby or mom can run to.

There's lots of things that you should pack, things like clothes to go home in for you and the baby, comfortable sleeping clothes if you don't want to wear a hospital gown the whole time, some warm socks, nursing bras and pads,(if your planning on breastfeeding),a few snacks,in case you get the munchies, or your man does,(the hospital food isn't that great anyway),blankets to take the baby home in,diaper bag,a good book, and anything else that would make you more comfortable.

one thing I didn't pack that I wished I had was CHAPSTICK! during labor my lips became so dry they split I made my hubby go buy some soon after. Use it often to avoid this. Also the hospital gives you alot of stuff so try to keep it to aminium. I ended up getting 2 diaper bags diapers wipes alchohol pads, pads, some much more to list. It took three trips to get it all to the car.

I packed waaaay too plenty and as you're saying it took up a million/2 if my well-being facility room. Take 2 wonderful pairs of pajamas, make one among them a nightgown as you won't sense like donning pants. pass and purchase a pair of pairs of granny undies that pass up on your abdomen button. I had to have an emergency c section and no suitable undies and had to deliver human beings out to purchase me some. Take socks, even whether that is heat the place u are as u could desire them in labour. Take a million going domicile outfit, thats it. Dont %. too many clothing, you wont desire them. I took a mag which grow to be wonderful to study while i grow to be by utilising myself. You dont even could %. your bag at 31 weeks, so im undecided why your Mum is donning on like that. maximum 1st time mums pass over, no longer all yet maximum. I packed my bag at 37 weeks, i think of that is extra suitable than early adequate.

Bring at least two out-fits for yourself. and then bring lots of out-fits for the baby. You'll want to be prepared for anything really. Hot, cold, extra pillow.......... Whatever really. Bring lots of changes for the baby because the baby will make a mess a lot and you'll want to change it. And since you cant just wash everything you'll have to just bring extras.
