Yesterday, my doc gave me a blood test (qualitative) and it came back under 5 (not pg). When I got home - looking at my calendar I realized I probably ovulated this past weekend...meaning blood was drawn only 3-4 DPO. SO, the hGC wouldn't even be present yet because implantation hasn't happened (IF I am pg). Is this correct?? Could it have been a false negative?? I'll do some HPT this weekend just to be safe. Can anyone shed some light on this, clarify or explain? Thanks!!

The Hcg hormone usually shows up a couple of days post implantation. It is extremely possible that it was a false negative. Do not rely on that result since it was so early. Try an early EPT home pregnancy test when your period is due. I took an EPT 10 days post ovulation, and it was negative. 16 days post ovulation, it was positive. :) Good luck and keep us updated!!

hCG won't show up until after a fertilized egg implants into the uterus. At 3 or 4 DPO it's way too early for that. Seven to ten DPO is the minimum that you can expect a positive blood test-even an HPT this weekend might not give you a positive result if you're pregnant...some women take longer than others to spill sufficient hCG in their urine for a home pregnancy test to measure it.

You're probably not going to get a positive result on a pregnancy test until at least 10dpo - and that's only with an early response test. This is about the time when hcg will start showing up. But, some women won't get a positive for several more days after this. If you want to be more sure of the results, don't take a test until you are expecting your period.

I wouldn't get too excited about being pregnant so soon. I am now 3 months pregnant. Stress is a big factor when you are waiting to find out if you are pregnant. I know it is hard, but you are going to have to wait and relax. There were a couple of times I was 9 days late and there was no positive, I found it to be quite stressful and I think that is why it was so late. When I actually found out that I was pregnant, I did a test when I was 5 days late, I had just moved and so my mind was totally off of the trying to get pregnant thing. Whether or not you are trying to get pregnant, if you are constantly worrying and stressing over it, it is not good for you or the baby if you are. If you are pregnant, you will find out soon enough, I would try a home pregnancy test when you are about five days late (doctor visits will come soon enough if you are). If you are, congratulations in advance. : ) !!

Yeah it's probably too early to tell. You can tell about two weeks after you ovulate, around the time when you miss a period. Sometimes, you can tell a little before, but only like 5 days before you skip a period. Oftentimes that's the only time there is enough hGC to detect a pregnancy.

Way to early, so yes the test could have been a false negative.
I got a positive test at 10dpo with my daughter and at 11dpo my HCG was only 20, so it can start showing within a few days after implanation...which occurs about 6-12dpo.

It would have been way too early to test. The embryo probably hasn't even implanted yet. Don't do any HPT until you miss your period, you don't want to get a false negative.

You are right. Levels start to rise the day after implantation which happen 6-10 days past ovulation.

When I went into the hospital with pain and bleeding they did the same test and I was 7-14 days preg.
If you still think your preg in acouple of days have them redo it, it could had been to early, and the level will be low, mine was like 17 I think.
