most of my games were hand me downs from my sister and she lost so many of the pieces or money. of course at the time my mom turned it into a scavenger hunt. kind of like "find $1500 in money" and I'd finally find half in monopoly and half in payday. then "find 2 dice" - I'd have to raid Yahtzee so for me most of the fun was getting all the pieces. after that i wasn't even in the mood to play the game.
of course it also makes me want complete board games for myself now. Now that i don't have to hunt for parts I love Life and Clue...classic, timeless, and still fun.
BTW - when did it change to Snakes and Ladders - I always knew it as Chutes and Ladders. Just nosy.

Buccaneer and games from comics.
There were large snakes and ladder type games in comics like the Beezer. Wheetabix had six Dr Who variations which we stuck together. The result was a game which was near impossible to finnish, but we gave it a good try.

Every year my dad bought our family a game for Christmas. It was our FAVORITE gift and we couldn't wait to open it! One year, when I was 10 or11, he bought us a game called "Ripley's Believe It Or Not." It was AWESOME! Basically, you got cards with statements or questions and you had to ask someone if they believed the statement or if it was a question, if they new the answer. The best part was, you were encouraged to change the wording so that you could fool the person and get them to say they believed what you had made up! We actually had permission to LIE! It was the greatest game ever! We played it so much that we finally knew all of the real questions and statements by heart!
Thanks for letting me take a trip down memory lane :) !!!
