or stick your fingers in your ears and go "LaLaLaLaLa"?

Isn't it incredible how people will offer their advice on how to handle a situation....when with my own eyes I see they are not doing so well themselves...I think they want me in the same miserable boat they are in....so, I do opposite of what they tell me.....

Ever happen to you?

Peace.

Unfortunately, there are people out there who purposefully give out bad advice, with the intent of creating hardship for others, and I can't possibly understand why anyone would do such a thing, but sometimes it may be good to recieve advice from someone is going through hardships themsleves. Many times in life, we do not realize the choices we are making are wrong until it's too late. Not to say I haven't at times knowingly made bad choices, but I'd like to think that at some point, I learn from my mistakes. And if I didn't make good decisions then, maybe I will make better ones later. And I know that if a friend was going through an experience which I failed in or suffered difficulties through, I still feel like I would be able to give them what I hope would be helpful, if not, at least genuine advice.

I've come to the conclusion that giving and receiving advice is pointless...most people KNOW what is the best plan of action is and for whatever reason they either follow that plan or not....

I've learned when my ever so helpful friends start to offer any kind of advice to just say "you know this advice will be falling on deaf ears, cuz i'm just gonna do what i want anyway, so maybe u should save your breath"
usually works...

YES!! I have a chronic illness and I get way too much medical advice from people. Folks, I have an excellent team of medical professionals who provide care for me and I don't need or want it from anyone other than them. I honestly don't care about your aunt's friend's sister's neighbor's daughter-in-law who has the same condition I have and how she can work and live a completely normal life.

Thank you for letting me get this off my chest. :)

It depends on how the advice is given ; if it is done in a friendly way(even if the subject of the advice is not heis or her business or firld of knowledge) I smile and either store it fore later or quitely discard it. If ,however, the "advice" is given in a hostile or arrogant way, I either walk away or interiorly shut down the person's tirade in my mind.

I think the only person who has regularly given me unsolicited advice is my mother - I know all mothers do it - and yes - it probably has made me want to scream on occasion.

YES!!! I have this aunt on my wife's side... AARRGGHH!!!!! She's like 50-something and never had kids, yet was quick to criticize me and my wife if our infant daughter's (she's now 3) skin was cold, or if her blanket was too tight, etc, etc,... We were like "enough already!!"
