The new batter gets the at bat no matter the count when the old batter left the game. It is nothing more than a pinch hitter and if he gets a hit, drives in a run, or strikes out, whatever the result would all belong to the pinch hitter. Mike below me is correct, the only exception is if the batter leaves with two strikes and the pinch hitter strikes out. In that case the strike out would go to the batter that left the game.
