There is no easy way and it's always gonna hurt their feelings. Don't use the....it's not you, it's me!! The best way is to tell that person that they are wonderful in every way (lie).....also, tell them that there is no one else you are interested in. Maybe tell them that you are at a point in your life where you feel that you have nothing good to offer another person at this time. Say I love you so much....hug.....and go!

You can do it diplomatically. Also, It has depend on the reason why. You cannot decide how he feel but if your decision is for the best interest for both party, speak the truth then. Sometime the truth may hurt but if it need to be spoken,"JUST DO IT"

I just broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years. It was extrememly difficult, but the best way is to be honest. Be nice, but be honest. Do not tell him/her "maybe we'll get back together" unless you really mean it, because it gives them false hope. Tell them why you want to break up, and don't put too much blame on them. Take most of the blame yourself.

Well there is no way not to hurt them! But go up to them and tell her that you dont thank things are going in the right direction and you thank you need to take a brake and maybe see other people and when she starts to cry hug her!!

if they have feelings for you - you can't. Even an email won't help.
Honestly - bite the bullet and do it face to face. At least they'll still have some kind of respect for you. Its not cool to hide out and try to do it anonymously.
