Common today? It has always been common, ever since a public school system was implimented, and boys and girls both started attending school.

As long as the dating isn't interfering with the school work, then date away. Teen years are for learning about more than school subjects- you are learning to become an adult, how to maintain all sorts of relationships, including romantic.

As long as they don't get to serious with just one person and fall hoplessly in love to young.
My mom was so strict when we were teenagers it is surpising that any of us ever dated.
Her rules were,
16 years old and only if your grades were good you could "double" date and no drive-in-movies.Home by 10:00pm maybe 12pm if something very special.
17 years old maybe you could go out alone on a date with good grades and doing extra housework.
We always had to have our dates meet our parents and my mom had their home address and phone number.
She would ask so many questions that after awhile, I didn't want to go out.
She wanted all of us to get a good education and not be distracted,oh,I forgot,we were not allowed to date the same person more than a couple of times, just in case something started.

Dearest Strike,
I happen to be approaching my teenagerhood (1st February), and of course it is common! Even in the few last years of primary school, boys and girls have been going out! If you can do it, we can do it better!
