It is my ultimate dream to write for a glossy magazine such as Glamour. I have wanted to be a journalist for a while and would also love to work for the BBC. However, people have said to me how difficult this is and it's starting to put me off. I mean, I'm only 16 but I already have some published articles and a portfolio. If I could choose, I would write for a fashion magazine. Just think, how many other 1000's of girls want to as well. I don't know what to think. Thanks x

If its your dream go for it no matter how hard it is (according to some people). Don't let anyone stop you from dreaming.

Go for it, 1000's of girls want to sit on fat arses and do nothing all their lives! Forget them and go for what you want, you are in control. Not someone who wants to offer advise.
Working for the BBC is easy, in the respect that they are an equal opportunities employer and always looking for new people because It is a large organisation and there is always opportunity within a large orgnaisation. The BBC has employees and correspondants worldwide with 100's of different job roles.
Have a look at their website for information and advice on joining them, there may be a local BBC office to you.

Almost all towns and cities have BBC departments and some are easily visited, local radio stations have work experience and training positions.

For instance BBC Birmingham is easily visited at the Mailbox in Birmingham. Places exist where you can call in and chat.

It is possible to do work experience with the BBC too!

You must follow your dream as opposed to ending up in a job you dislike, where you will spend years wondering what might have been, had you gone with them!

If you want to do magazine work, then you could enter journalism with a local paper. Write to the editors and people who might just give you the chance to meet up and then you can tell them your dreams! You never know your luck! They might just be looking for someone.

Once you are in the industry you can then take up more training and develop into the position you want to be. But you must start at the bottom and work upwards.

Things are only difficult if your not tallented or experienced in that area. When you first drive a car , your all over the place, then with practice you don't even think about it. We all have our own speciality and if yours is writing articles and you like it then it will be easier for you than your mates. I'm a window cleane rand can clean an average size window in well under 10 seconds, practice makes perfect

Don't let it put you off. Just make sure you get the grades you need and do whatever it takes to become a Journalist. A little hard work, effort and self belief can go a long way.

Do it just do it. You already have a good background. Just keep building on that and make a good resume.

don't listen to those people - if it's your dream then it's not up to them to stop it!

hopefully you'll acheive this goal, and i bet you'll get used to ANY hard work there is. But it's only up to you decide not to do this - remember this!

Don't give up so easy. You are young and shouldn't quit until you give it a good fight. Good luck.
