Hubby and I were planning a Vegas trip in October but because of work issues, it's been postponned. The only option we have is to go Dec. 26-31. What's Vegas like during that time? I'm sure things will be more expensive, but we're prepared for that.

Like I said "the only option" we have is going Dec. 26-31. I wish we could go another time, but it's not an option. It's either go this week, or not at all.

Well if you leave before new years it wont be that bad. Its crazy during new years eve. I've been there almost every point of the year. I recommend late Feb. Not to hot, Not to cold.

It's really no different than any other time, except the closer you get to New Years the more people on the streets. A good portion of the Strip is actually closed off around 5 pm on New Years Eve for all the festivities in the street; huge fireworks at midnight shot from the hotel roofs (really something to see) Downtown has a huge New Years Eve party in the street also with free bands, dancing, etc. A great place to go during that time period is Lake Las Vegas. There are quaint little shops, restaurants, bars, casino & hotel right on the lake. It's always fabulously decorated for the holidays. It's about 15-20 minutes from the south Strip, must have a car, but worth checking out.

Okay, Vegas is really cheap to stay in from Dec. 26-28/29. And really expensive to stay Dec. 30-Jan.1. The New Years Eve crowd there is HUGE and it's really pricey. My best advice is to stay Dec. 26-28, when it's cheaper, then go somewhere else for New Year's, like home. Vegas for New Years is fun though. Last year I went to a smaller hotel off the strip, to a party they had set up. It was relatively cheap and they had two live bands and we danced all night, watched the countdown from a warm room, and had a great time. You could check out the Station casinos or the Coast casinos for the New Years part of your trip. I did not fancy being on the Strip for New Years or downtown/Fremont Street. Its really cold and way too crowded! So my suggestion is to pay to go to a party - they have anything you are into. 80's music, 70's music, etc. Some come with dinner. Check out the local newspaper for those deals. Have fun!

This year because of New Years day falling on Tuesday Vegas will be very busy from the 28th (Friday) on.

The prices of rooms will be very high but there will be Thousands of fun loving people in Vegas ready to party. If you are into all the excitement then this is the time of year for you.

I suggest booking early because many places will fill up fast. Vegas sells out for New Years. They have already set their rates and most rooms are douple the normal price or more for that weekend.

Come on out and have a blast!

I'll be there too!

The hotels are hella cheap on Christmas!

The attendance everywhere is down until the 30, when it spikes. And the 31st will be VERY VERY crowded.

But you will enjoy the 26 - 30

It's too bad you can't stay for New Years!

It is VERY busy! A LOT of people go there to spend New Years. SO if you are looking for a lot of fun and don't mind being with a lot of people everywhere, go for it!

Yes it is more expensive, because is the busiest time of year there.

Enjoy and good luck!

I went one time during Christmas and it was so beautiful! They offer free shows and they give out free stuff but it's very crowded at that time.

i'd bet it's depressing as hell, all the losers with no family to spend the holiday with, gambling and drinking their way through the holiday season. i'd try for after the new year, it'll probably be a more upbeat atmosphere. just my opinion.
