#1 - I really like it. As for #2, the NRA actually advises all to adhere to local, state and federal laws concerning the selling of firearms. Most localities ahve a legal age of 18 to buy a firearm. But as we all know, if a kid really wants a gun in todays world then they know where to get them just like the bad guys do, The debate over this will continue for ever. What I belive is this - the 2nd amendment gives me the RIGHT as a law abiding citizen to legally purchase and own any firearm that is for sale in the USA. If I want a .50 sniper rifle, can afford it and pass all the backgrounds then I should be allowed to buy it. Period! Do I need a .50 sniper rifle for self defense - NO, but it is legal to sell and to own. Am I going to go out and shoot down a plane with it - NO, this is where the LAW ABIDING part comes into play. So like I said the debate will continue and both sides will never change thier minds.

Answer to #1...If you are Bill & Hillary, orTed Kennedy ,you can get out of jail time by lying to a grand jury, returning illegal campaign funds, or just buy your plea bargain even if you drown them in your car.
Answer to #2...When there are terrorists running around your home, better pray a 16 year old that has been PROPERLY trained in firearms use caps the badguy...or maybe we should just all give up our rights ? NOT!

I would take the first one, the NRA, does not mean much to me, and i dont believe in their power Threats, hey always throw out, to bush and Cheney, the unlicensed hunter, who shoots people.
If anyone other than Cheney were to have shot another person while hunting, without a license, we would be behind bars for years, but then again Oil is slippery, just like the people currently in the white house.

I have to say neither, as each skews the topic for which they supposedly stand. Conservatives aren't going to jail, POLITICIANS are. That's your answer (i.e. because they are politicians.)
The second one is simply wrong. Competent arms sales and weapons handling are key tenets of the NRA, a group whose sole purpose in life is to adhere to and support the 2nd Amendment. Each of the first 10 amendments have groups who are totally dedicated to them.
Children who are hurt "playing" with weapons are usually the result of several factors:
1. They were never taught weapon safety rules.
2. They were told simply not to touch weapons (which naturally piques their curiosity)
3. They weren't trained in using weapons. (Children as young as 10 can learn how to properly care for weapons and what their effects are.)
4. They fear the weapon. (What this means is even if being trained in its use, a person who fears the weapon tends to forget all safety and allow the weapon to control him instead of the other way around. This leads to misfirings and accidental shootings.)
I learned what a handgun was and what it did when I was around six. My father was a police officer and I lived around weapons my entire childhood. I first learned to fire a rifle at 10. I now am a soldier who fires weapons for a living, I have never had a weapons accident, and now my daughters are learning the finer points of weapons safety, to include knives and archery.
