.- Santiago, CHile (Southamerica)
.- CH$ 2,680 (US$ 5.2)
.- No idea, it all depends where you live, how old is the house, etc. but a normal 3BR house, in a middle-class neighborhood, pays about CH$ 160,000/year (US$ 312.50)
.- School taxes do not exist here.
.- Tax: 19% (VAT). Taxes on books are ridiculously higher...
.- City, not suburbs, regular middle-class neighborhood.
.- phew! Now that our 'ultra clever' government changed the system, it takes me about 1.2 hrs. each way. (NO, I'm not kidding...and it's MUCH WORSE for most people)
.- cloudy and kinda chilly.

Well obviously, rent. You need to consider deposits, application fees. I hope your credit is straight. Otherwise you will shell out more dough. I moved out on my own at 16 and it is tough out here in the real world. Although I turned out fine. You can do it. But keep in mind that if you are 20 and have no clue about basic necessities that one must pay for, I suggest you stay at home and stack your money and not get into debt. You will probably need electricity, some places gas, some places water, phone, internet, cable. Depending on where you live, that can be 700-1200 a month alone. Not including if you have a car payment, insurance, cell phone, like to shop, go out to eat, etc. Stay at home! You will have the rest of your life to pay bills.
